CAVANAUGH/SCHOMP
John CAVANAUGH, born about 1781 (probably in Orange County, NY) was
Sheriff of Hunterdon County in the 1820's, and held other offices.
His name is sometimes spelled in a variant way, such as CAVANAGH. He
had a farm in Prallsville, Amwell Twp. He was married three times and
quickly widowed twice, to ladies whose names I am uncertain of. His
third wife was (Rebecca?) Caroline SCHOMP.
John apparently encountered some financial reverses, and moved to
Philadelphia about 1830, where he estavlished a feed business. He
died in 1850 and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Philadelphia.
I am interested in *any* information concerning him and his wives,
particularly Caroline SCHOMP. In turn, I have information on some of
his descendants.
