Genealogy 101



Basic Research and Organization FREE 6:45 PM - 8:45 PM Tuesdays November 11, 18, 25 and December 2 (four weeks/eight hours)


A basic, comprehensive course for beginner and intermediate amateur genealogists interested in starting or completing a family history. The four week course (eight hours total) covers completing Pedigree and Family Group Sheets, organization, basic resources, local area/county/state/federal resources-such as: court records, wills, Federal and State census, military records, land records; also local directories, newspapers, research techniques, essential records and computer/internet use. A comprehensive outline (Power Point presentation copy) serves as the text and includes many website addresses and research locations. These will be available at the door, cost $3.00, which also covers a number of handouts distributed as part of the course. The course is taught by Gil Greene, an experienced genealogist and founder of Delaware and Lehigh Valleys Genealogy Club, which meets the second Monday of each month at Grace Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, NJ, and guests are welcome.

The course will meet at the Phillipsburg Public Library, 200 Corliss Avenue, Phillipsburg, NJ, starting at 6:45PM - running to 8:45PM
