Benjamin Benston who was drowned by the sinking of the Schooner Ellen Sedgwick in a heavy gale Seven miles off Absecom Beach December 22nd 1849. In the 52nd year of his age One leg only was found which was recognized by the name being knitted on the stocking. Within the ocean sleeps his form Far from his kindred who Weep for his loss in the dread storm His heart was kind and true One limb alone from the cold wave Is all we rescued from the grave.
