Scofield Cemetery
[John Scofield] built a house nearer to the river, where he spent the remainder of his life. The field where his remains now lie was his own property, deeded to him by the proprietors. He cleared it and dedicated a portion of it for a burial place. Several young persons were buried there before his own death. Mrs. Sarah Scofield, his widow, who died in 1794, is supposed to have been the last person buried there.
