Daniel M.
Skinner
(1825-1898)
Daniel
Moulton Skinner, son of Elijah
and Abigail (Moulton) Skinner was
born in Sandwich, April 14, 1825. He
married, on September 7, 1845, Sarah
P.Stratton, daughter of Samuel
and Lois Stratton. Their children
are Clara, Flora, Cyrus, Daniel W.,
Walter, Lucien and Olive.
Daniel opened
a tin shop shortly after he was married and
continued with that business until he went
into the shoe trade. But, never did he stop
trying to improve upon his inventions.
He was
blessed with the same ability as his father
when it came to inventing things. He had
nearly perfected a mowing machine but had to
abandon it due to lack of funds. He did
invent a steam clothes-washer, which was
very popular. On October 23, 1883 he
obtained a patent for a parcel transmitter,
which later he sold for enough to make him
comfortable for life
