WOOD LAKE JOTTINGS

   T.P. HANNA of Mapleton, Minn., returned home Friday morning.
   The residence of Alf HAND took fire Monday morning. By the aid of the bucket brigade it was soon extinguished without much damage.
   Joe LEADER of Chadron, in company with George PARKER, were visiting Mr. LEADER's ranch last Thursday.
   A party of friends visited Mr. David LEACH and family last Friday evening. Progressive high five and refreshments were indulged in.

   Mr. Abe BAILEY and wife were visiting friends in Long Pine the first of the week.
   Wallace LONG of Sioux City was Visiting the HANSEN Cattle company's ranch last week.
   Willis BARNARD expects to go to Texas to buy some cattle in a few days.
   Mrs. LEWIS of Blair, Neb., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Hal BAKEWELL.

For the time period June, 1884 thru May, 1885 a record has been found for 190 deaths in Adams County. 1885 census mortality schedules, cemetery records, newspapers, church and probate records were used.

75 deaths, or 39% were adults, 115 deaths, or 61% were children. 141 deaths, or 74%, were recorded on the census schedules. 63 persons, or 33% had tombstones or cemetery record.

68 persons, or 36% had obituaries. 33 or 46% of adults had obituaries. 20 deaths, or 11% were found in church records. 10 deaths, or 13% of adult deaths were found in probate records.

44, or 23% of the census deaths were not found recorded elsewhere.

11, or 15% of adult deaths were not found anywhere but the census.

18, or 9% of deaths were found only in the newspapers.
