The deed to the property, however, refers to it as the Mound Cemetery. That deed delivered title from the State of Nebraska to the Mound Cemetery Association (that association has been defunct for decades). The land, consisting of "one acre more or less" was sold for $7.00 and was part of the State of Nebraska's "common School Land." The deed was dated 9 May 1878 and recorded on 2 Oct 1894 in Book 28, page 383.
The deed was dated quite a few years after the first known burial in 1860. The last burial was in 1916. A large part of the cemetery consists of the fenced-in Nicholson lot.

This is a small, old, abandoned cemetery on private property. Many stones have been knocked over & broken by the deer & other animals that sleep there at night. Were possible we have righted the stones & leaned them against trees to prevent more damage. Some stones were to heavy to turn over & read. Most of the people buried there are relatives of my husband. This was a very challenging cemetery to photograph because it was very over grown with late summer plants when I was there. I hope to return one day to look for more stones & make another attempt to transcribe them.Some stones are no longer readable. Based on survey of stones: First burial may have been "George W Driskell" in 1860 & the last burial may have been "John Riley Nicholson Jr" in 1910. A survey was taken by Ida Ada Nicholson Fleming (1904-1997) on 5 Sep 1975. Ida was the oldest daughter of Thomas William Nicholson & granddaughter of John Riley Nicholson & Zerelda Jane Stewart/Stuart.
