Grant Tribune Sentinel Oct. 2007 Helen Barnason SAUM, 78, of North Platte, Neb., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at her home. Born April 13, 1929 at North Platte to George Glen and Clara Christine Kammerer McKain. On July 16, 1949 married Norman M. Barnason at Phillipsburg, Kan. To this union four children were born. Norman preceded her in death on April 1, 1993. In 1984 She then married Harry L. Saum at Wheatridge, Colo. Harry preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1993. Preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Cecil Florom, two brothers Warren McKain and Clarke McKain; and sister Betty Miller. Funeral service was Oct. 1, 2007 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Neb. Beryl L. (Crowell) HOCK BIELINS, 96, of Longmont, Colo., died Oct. 1, 2007. Born June 12, 1911 in Enders, Neb., to Leo and Iva (McMullen) Crowell. She was a teacher. Married Henry C. Hock on June 12, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1971. She later married John Bielins on June 11, 1988. He preceded her in death in 2003. Preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; a daughter, Elva Joanne Hock on May 2, 1993; two stepsons, Robert D. and Richard S. Hock and a stepdaughter, Winona Bitter on August 19, 1994. Funeral service held Oct. 5, 2007 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Foothills Gardens of Memory. Erma HOLCOMBE was born on April 10, 1911 at Western, Neb. She was the second of three children born to Albert and Carolina Wendorf Ziemann. Married to Sidney Holcombe on Dec. 26, 1939 at Marysville, Kan. She died Sept. 26, 2007 at the age of 96. In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by her two brothers, Vern and Phillip. Funeral services were Sept. 29, 2007 at the Big Springs Assembly of God Church. Burial was in the Big Springs Cemetery. Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant was in charge of arrangements. Carol Kaye BOROWSKI was born on April 18, 1938 at Big Springs, Neb. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Walter and Mary Armstrong Stivers. Married to Melvin Borowski on Mar 30, 1967 at Scottsbluff, Neb. Melvin died in Jan. 1998. She suffered an apparent stroke on Oct. 3, 2007 and died later that afternoon. She had reached the age of 69. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Verna Muhr. Mass of Christian burial was held at Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church on Oct. 6, 2007. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery. Harry KINNER Jr. of Imperial, Neb., died Oct. 8, 2007 at his rural home. He was 75. Services held Oct. 13, 2007, 10 a.m. at Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors. Mary Ann FLAMING, age 85, a longtime Keith Co. resident, passed away Oct. 19, 2007. Born Nov. 2, 1921 at Hillsboro, Kan., the daughter of Herman and Sara (Ewert) Plenert. Ed Flaming and Mary Ann married on Mar 26, 1943 in Hillsboro. To this union six children were born. Preceded in death by her parents; a brother Norman Plenert; her husband Ed; son Dale; grandson Scott Larsen; and a great-grandson Brennan Taylor. Funeral services were held Oct. 22, 2007 at the Ogallala New Hope Church. Burial was at the Paxton Cemetery. Eleanor BOOTH was born on Sept. 19, 1921 at Scott City, Kan. She was the third of 10 children born to Ralph and Ora Watkins Norman. Eleanor met Clyde Booth in California and they were married on June 7, 1944 at Holbrook, Ariz. One daughter was born to this union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde and her daughter, Marsha, who died in 1966 in an automobile accident. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Verdell, Ordell, Maynard and Donald Norman; two sisters, Lorraine Norman and Esther Kirkpatrick. Funeral services were Oct. 23, 2007 at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Gardens at Bloomington, Calif., at a later date. (Harry) Donald DURFEE was born on Oct. 17, 1930 at Rulo, Neb. He was the youngest of eight children born to Frank and Carolyn Roussell Durfee. Joined the U. S. Army in 1951 and served until 1953. Married to Dianne Mick on Sept. 17, 1966 in Miami, Okla. Don died Oct. 14, 2007. He had reached the age of 76. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were Oct. 18 at the Wallace United Methodist Church. Burial was in Wallace Cemetery. Marjorie Elaine GLADUE was born Dec. 20, 1928, to William and Nellie Makinster. Marriage to Duane Gladue on May 15, 1948. She died Oct. 27, 2007. She was 78 years of age. Preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nellie Makinster; sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Charles Briggs; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Norma Makinster. Funeral Mass Oct. 30, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment was held at Green Lawn Cemetery, Lamar. Lowell CORNELIUS was born on Aug. 20, 1931 south of Madrid, Neb. He was the fourth of seven children born to Floyde and May Chamberlain Cornelius. Married to Rosa Wendt on Aug. 18, 1957 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Grant. He died Oct. 23, 2007. He had reached the age of 76. In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by two sisters Elaine Frahm and Carol Friesen and two brothers Floyde Wilson and his twin brother Wendell Cornelius.
