CRAWFORD - Calvin Leroy PARKINS Sr., 44, of Crawford, died Oct. 25, 2007 in Rapid City, S.D. He was born Sept. 7, 1963, to Robert and Esther Parkins in Fremont. Joined the U. S. Army in 1984 and served until 1989. On Mar 5, 1994, he married Pamela Zanker. His grandfathers and a grandmother preceded him in death. ASHLAND - Floyd Byron VEST, 76, of Greenwood, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Greenwood Oct. 25, 2007. Born on a farm near Cowles on Feb. 28, 1931 to Clarence "Jack" and Ora (Spracher) Vest. Joined the Navy on April 2, 1951 and sailed aboard the USS Iowa where he worked as a fire control technician during the Korean War. He and Bonnie Reeve were married on Feb. 21, 1954 in Sutton. Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence "Jack" and Ora Vest. Funeral services were held Oct. 29, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Ashland. LUBKER, 105, of Fremont, formerly of Nickerson and Cedar Bluffs, died Nov. 5, 2007. Born April 2, 1902, to Robert and Mary (Moore) McCauley in Cedar Bluffs. She was a teacher. Married Henry T. Lubker on Feb. 14, 1924 in Fremont. Her parents, her husband, an infant daughter and 11 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She married Carl W. Ziegenbein on Jan. 14, 1956. Preceded in death her parents; husband; brothers and their wives Henry and Elsie Jane, August and Pearl, Herman and Else, Fred and Lela, Louie and Iola Wendt and nephew Wayne Wendt. She attended Luther College in Wahoo and then taught elementary school in Tecumseh and Weston for several years prior to her marriage. Married Robert Francis Malm on Nov. 3, 1945 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colon. The couple farmed near Swedeburg, where they raised nine children. Her husband, a granddaughter, Shannon Malm, sisters, Mildred Hoban, Ellen Kruce and Gladys Dunavan, preceded her in death. WAHOO - Joe Friel McCRIGHT, 96, of Wahoo, died Nov. 9, 2007 in Wahoo. Born on Oct. 4, 1911, to Thomas Arthur and Mary Lydia (Williams) McCright in Gross. On Mar 23, 1940, he married Viola A. Filbrandt in David City. His parents, three brothers, Jay, Floyd and Dwight and two sisters, Zell and Zada, preceded him in death. Funeral services held Nov. 16 at the Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Burial will be at a later date. OMAHA - Juanita (Buddie) N. BOHN died Nov. 14, 2007. Born in Liberal, KS on Nov. 30, 1921 to Herschel and Ella Adelaide Ives. On July 1, 1945 married Ray A. Bohn in Riverside, CA Her husband died in 2005. Also preceded in death by her parents and sisters Bernice, Velma, Helen and Jean. SAN PEDRO, CA - Judy Ann (DeHart) BOHON passed away at her home in San Pedro, California on Nov. 11, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Omaha to Wilbur and Mildred (Mengler) DeHart on Nov. 14, 1941. Graduated from Ashland High School with the Class of 1959. Enlisted in the U. S. Navy, where she met her husband John Russell Bohon. Preceded in death by her parents; brother Frank; daughter Chantelle and grandson Blake Garcia. At her request, Judy was cremated. GREENWOOD - Richard Lee MINERS of Greenwood, died Nov. 11, 2007 after battling cancer for a number of years. Born Oct. 13, 1942 in Wahoo to Richard and Marian (Hollst) Miners.
