MACEDONIA, Iowa - Leona Mae BLATNY, 79, of Macedonia, Iowa, died May 23, 2007
in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Born Mar 16, 1928, to Emil and Rose (Stanislaw) Rezac in 
Linwood. On Oct. 19, 1948 married Bernard Blatny in Morse Bluff. Preceded in death 
by her parents and a brother, Robert Rezac. Funeral service was held May 26 at 
Hertz Funeral Home in Carson, Iowa. A private graveside service was held at 
the Carson Cemetery in Carson, Iowa. 
 
FREMONT - Larry S. CAMPBELL, 67, of Fremont, died in Omaha , May 26, 2007. 
Born in Plattsmouth on April 14, 1940. HMarried Diana Allison on Nov. 19, 1960 
in Plattsmouth. Services were held May 30 at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral 
Chapel in Fremont. Burial followed at Lewiston Cemetery in Plattsmouth. 
 
WAHOO - Frances L. "Babe" CLARK, 91, of Wahoo, died May 15, 2007. 
Born Aug. 31, 1915 to Frank and Anna (Brekke) Holub at Verona, N. D. 
Married Charles Clark on Feb. 17, 1939at Chicago, Ill. Preceded in death 
by her husband, her parents, sisters, Lois Tesar and Florence Kindl. 
A memorial service will be held June 9 at the First Presbyterian Church 
in Wahoo. There will also be a memorial and committal service for the f
amily in Verona, N.D. on June 23. 
 
SCHUYLER - Irene May GERRARD, 79, of Schuyler died May 29, 2007 at her home. 
Born on May 10, 1928 to Emil and Eva (Zoubek) Tuma in Schuyler. On Sept. 28, 1948 
she married James Gerrard at the courthouse in Schuyler. Her parents and one brother, 
Larry Tuma, preceded her in death. A memorial service was held June 2 at Kracl Funeral 
Chapel in Schuyler. Committal will be at a later date. 
 
Ralph A. KRAEGER of Raymond died May 26, 2007. He was 45. 
His mother, Nancy Miller Kraeger, preceded him in death. 
Funeral services will be held in Boonville, N.Y. at his family's 
convenience. Roper & Sons, Inc. are in charge of arrangement.  
 
WAHOO - Louis C. MULCAHY Jr., 64, of Wahoo, formerly of Baltimore, Md. died 
May 16, 2007 in Wahoo. Born June 7, 1942, to Louis C. and Margaret (Callahan) 
Mulcahy in Baltimore City, Md. Served in the U. S. Army Reserves. His parents 
precede him in death.  Memorial service held June 6 at Calvary Church in Wahoo. 
American Legion Post 82 will make a flag presentation. Svoboda Funeral Home of 
Wahoo is in charge of the arrangements. 
 
NORTH BEND - Jeanne B. SCHULTZ, 63, of North Bend, formerly of Wahoo and 
Mead, died June 4, 2007. Born on Feb. 15, 1944, to Kenneth E. Schultz and 
Hilda I. (Nash) Baltz in Scottsbluff. Preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, 
Raymond Baltz, brother, Kenneth Schultz Jr., sisters, Frieda Pulse and Jeannette 
Adams, and two nephews. Funeral service, June 7 at Svoboda Funeral Home. 
Interment will be at Platteville Cemetery at Fremont. 

COLON - Pamela Jo. GUTZ, 58, of Colon, formerly of Fremont, died 
June 6, 2007 in Fremont after a long illness. Born Sept. 20, 1948, to Clayton 
and Opal (Michaelson) Fagen in Grand Island. On April 18, 1970, she married 
Gregory Gutz in Fremont. Her parents, a nephew, Carl Blea Gutz and aunts, 
uncles and cousins preceded her in death. Funeral service was held June 8 
at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Burial was at Memorial 
Cemetery in Fremont. 

FREMONT - Genevieve A. HOSCH, 91, of Fremont died June 8, 2007 in Omaha. 
Born June 7, 1916 in Arlington to Herman and Anna (Weinholz) Laaker. 
On Aug 2, 1936 she married Herman J. Hosch in Papillion. Preceded in death by 
her parents; husband, Herman; daughter, Rita Ambrose; grand daughter Linda 
Ayers; brothers, Vernon and Floyd Laaker. Funeral services , June 13 at Moser 
Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial at the Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. 

WAHOO - Margaret Eleanor Louise "Marge" JACOBS, 93, of Wahoo, formerly of 
Ashland, died June 8, 2007. Born in Chicago, Ill. on Aug. 13, 1913, to Gustav P. 
and Wilhelmina (Laatz) Sonnenberg. Marriage to George W. Jacobs on 
Feb. 22, 1941, in Forest Park, Ill. No children were born to this union. 
Preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Willard and 
Arthur Sonnenberg. A memorial service was held on June 11, at the 
American Lutheran Church in Ashland. A private inurnment was held 
at the Ashland Cemetery.

FREMONT - Donna L. LACKEY, 78, of Fremont, died June 10, 2007. 
Born on July 5, 1928, in South Bend to Glen and Amy (Streight) Thiessen. 
She was a graduate of Ashland High School. Married Robert D. Lackey on 
Jan. 21, 1946, in Marysville, Kan. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, 
son Robert Lackey Jr. and brothers Wayne and Gordon Thiessen. A graveside 
service was held on June 15, at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. 

WAHOO - Ruth Ima BAADE, 84, of Wahoo, formerly Lincoln, died June 8, 2007. 
Born on July 16, 1922, to Frank and Jane Marie (Migot) Hutton at Peru. 
Her husband, Clyde Baade, her parents, brothers and sisters, preceded her in death. 
Private family services were held. Interment was at Lincoln Memorial Park. 

MEAD - Leonard L. RATKOVEC, 78, of rural Mead, died June 5, 2007 in Wahoo. 
Born May 19, 1929 to Frank and Agnes (Votava) Ratkovec at Edholm. Served in 
the USAF and was stationed at McConell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan. . 
On Sept. 27, 1951 married Margaret Spatz in Brainard. Preceded in death by 
children, Barbara Jean, Donald Leonard and Clarice Ann and a sister, Georgia Kliment. 
Mass of Christian Burial was held June 9, 2007 at St. James Catholic Church in Mead. 
Interment was at St. Vitus Cemetery in Touhy with military rites conducted by 
the American Legion Post 371 of Valparaiso. 

WAHOO - LaVerne H. WILLIAMS, 89, of Wahoo, died June 11, 2007 in Lincoln. 
She was born on July 19, 1917 to John and Margaret (Gerdes) Trauernicht 
at Wymore. On Mar 25, 1960, she married Clyde Williams. Preceded in death by 
her husband, daughter, Barb Williams, son, Larry Williams, granddaughter, 
Katelyn Wohl, and two sisters. Funeral services , June 14 at Pruss-Nabity 
Funeral Home in Wahoo. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery. 

MORRISON, Colo. - Delmer Leon BELLER, 50, died June 8, 2007, at his home. 
Born Oct. 11, 1956 in Denver, Colo. to Robert and Anna Beller. On Aug. 8, 1985, 
married Kimberly Nordbrock. Preceded in death by his brother Doug, two infant 
sisters and grandparents. Funeral services were held June 15 at the First United 
Methodist Church. Burial followed with Military Honors by Ashland American Legion 
Post 129 at the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Greenwood. 
 
LINCOLN - Tristan Scott (Abbott) GAGNER, infant, died June 16, 2007 in Lincoln. 
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. June 20 at the American Lutheran Church 
in Ashland. Burial will follow at the Ashland Cemetery. Arrangements by Marcy 
Mortuary, Ashland.  
 
NORTH BEND - Martha HOMER, 93, of North Bend, died June 15, 2007. 
Born Dec. 4, 1913 to Claus and Meta (Rabbass) Mahrt in Cedar Bluffs. 
Marriage to Harold K. Homer on Feb. 7, 1933 at Trinity Lutheran Church 
in Fremont. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, LeRoy 
and Fred Homer; a sister, Edna Rohwer; a brother, Alfred Mahrt and a 
great-grandson. Funeral services , June 19, 2007 at St. Peter Lutheran 
Church in North Bend. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. 
 
MEAD - Elwyn D. JOHNSON, 81, of rural Mead, died June 18 at his home. 
Born Sept. 16, 1925 to Joseph and Leila (Gilchrist) Johnson at Mead. 
Served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and then again during the Korean 
War. On Aug. 23, 1959 he married Carol Chancellor at Redeemer Lutheran 
Church in Lincoln. His parents, and a brother-in-law, Everette Hilfiker, 
preceded him in death. Funeral services held June 21 at Trinity Lutheran 
Church in Fremont. Burial at Morningside Cemetery at Mead with military 
graveside services conducted by the members of VFW Post 4502 and 
American Legion Post 82 of Wahoo. 
 
WAHOO - Dr. Clement J. McGILL DDS, 62, of Wahoo, died June 15, 2007 
with his wife Sheila. Born on Jan. 9, 1945, to Patrick H. Jr. and Elizabeth B. 
(Fleming) McGill at Wisner. On June 17, 1967, he married Sheila A. Fogarty 
at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. He served in the U. S. Navy near Lexington 
Park, Md. from 1970 to 1972. Clem and Sheila adopted Matthew in 1973 and 
Andrew in 1975. Craig was born in 1982 and Elizabeth in 1985. Preceded in 
death by son, Andrew P. McGill, and his father, Patrick H. McGill Jr. Mass of 
Christian Burial held June 20 in the Bishop Neumann Gymnasium. Interment 
was at St. Francis Cemetery. 
 
WAHOO - Sheila A. McGILL, 62, of Wahoo, died June 15, 2007 with her 
husband Clement. Born on Feb. 4, 1945 to Edward F. and Margaret (Donahoe) 
Fogarty in Omaha. On June 17, 1967, married Clement J. McGill at St. Cecilia 
Cathedral in Omaha. Her son, Andrew P. McGill, and her parents preceded her 
in death. Mass of Christian Burial held June 20 in the Bishop Neumann 
Gymnasium. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery. 
 
WAHOO - Betty L. STEELE, 77, of Wahoo, died June 11, 2007. 
Born Aug. 9, 1929 to Ralph and Ida (Bordner) Kruger at Fremont. 
Married Willard H. Steele on Jan. 25, 1963 at Columbus. Preceded in 
death by her husband, brothers, Bob and Earl Kruger; and sister, Alice Peters. 
Funeral services June 18 at the Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. Interment at 
Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. 

MALVERN, Iowa - Louis E. MILLER, 75, of Wahoo, formerly of Malvern, Iowa, 
died June 10, 2007. Born on Sept. 20, 1931, to Kelbert Carson and Ruth Marie 
(Gee) Miller near Tabor, Iowa. In 1950, enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served 
18 months at sea on the USS D.D. Gurke during the Korean Conflict. Married 
Nina Jane Anderson at Glenwood, Iowa on July 18, 1952. His parents and a son, 
Randall, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held June 14 at 
Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home. Interment was at the Malvern Cemetery 
in Malvern, Iowa 

LINWOOD - Renee PALENSKY, 18, of Linwood, died June 18 as a result 
of a one-vehicle accident near Dwight. Born Dec 1, 1988, to Leonard T. 
"Tom" Palensky Jr. and Loretta (Vrana) Palensky in Schuyler. Her grandparents
William and Margaret Vrana; uncle, William Vrana; and her boyfriend, Tad 
DeWispelare, precede her in death. Mass of Christian Burial was held June 22 
at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. Burial was at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church at Cedar Hill. 
 
WAHOO - LaVern B. SAUTTER, 80, of Wahoo, formerly of Scotia, died 
June 24, 2007. Born on April 8, 1927, to Benjamin and Hulda (Smith) Sautter 
near Cotesfield. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. 
Marriage to LaVonne E. Boltz on May 22, 1952, at Scotia. His wife died 
on Nov. 14, 1998. Preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brother, 
Marvin, Lawrence, Dale and an infant brother; and two sisters, Viola Yost 
and Stella Smith. Services at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. 
Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia with graveside 
military honors by American Legion Post No. 150 of Scotia. Peters Funeral 
Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements. 
 
CEDAR BLUFFS - Dorothy L. SLAUGHTER, 76, of Cedar Bluffs, died June 21, 2007. 
Born Sept. 18, 1930 to Emil and Barbara (Rejda) Janak in Brainard. On April 7, 1951 
she married Dale Slaughter at Brainard. Preceded in death by her parents, a brother, 
Raymond Janak; two sisters, Helen Polivka and Evelyn Flowers. Mass of Christian 
Burial June 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cedar Bluffs. Burial at Holy Trinity 
Cemetery at Brainard. Moser Memorial Chapel of Cedar Bluffs is in charge of 
the arrangements.  
 
Carol A. STICKNEY, 90, of Auburn, NE, formerly of Ashland died June 21, 2007. 
Born June 9, 1917 in Sholes to Henry and Bessie (Aten) Burnham. Marriage to 
Fred C. Stickney. Fred passed away in 1993. Preceded in death by husband 
Fred C. Stickney; brothers Glen, Len and Bill; sisters Ethel, Bernice, Velma 
and Mary. Funeral Services June 25, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist 
Church in Ashland. There will be a private inurnment at a later date. 
Arrangements by Marcy Mortuary, Ashland. 

ASHLAND - Gwen A. ANDERSON, 48, of Ashland died June 28, 2007 at her home. 
Gwen A. Anderson was born in Wakefield on Feb 14, 1959 to Edward and Natalie 
(Krause) Niemeier. On July 17, 1981, married Matthew Anderson at American 
Lutheran Church in Ashland. They became the parents of two sons, Evan and 
Nick, and a daughter Natalie. A Memorial Service will be held July 3, 2007
at the American Lutheran Church in Ashland. Inurnment will be at the 
Ashland Cemetery. 

LINCOLN - Louis J. "Louie" HEIN Sr., 92, of Lincoln, formerly of David City 
and Wahoo, died June 26, 2007. Born Jan. 17, 1915, to Nicholas Sr. and 
Frances (Koutny) Hein near David City. Married his childhood sweetheart 
Armella A. Demuth on Aug. 19, 1940, in David City. Armella died June 17, 1952. 
He married Julia E. Hanson on July 22, 1953 at David City. She preceded him in 
death Mar 17, 1985. He married Evelyn Justice on Nov. 25, 1989 at Lincoln. 
She died Aug. 13, 2005. Preceded in death by wives; Armella A. (Demuth), 
Julia E. (Hanson), Evelyn (Justice); brothers, Ed F. Hein, Sr., Nick Hein, Jr.; 
sisters, Louise Anderly (twin of Louis) Agnes Sawyer, Clara Berry, Helen 
Chmelka, Lucille (infant twin of Nick); son-in-law Leon Woehrer, grandson, 
Dennis Zitek, great-granddaughter, Hanna Zitek and nephew, Adrian Hein. 
Mass of Christian Burial held June 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in 
David City. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in David City. 
 
ASHLAND - Alpha M. SHERMAN, 92, of Ashland, died June 30, 2007. 
Alpha M. Sherman was born in Rosalie on Sept. 20, 1914 to Charles 
and Mary H. (Dickinson) Reisen. In 1934 she married Henry Schneider in 
Papillion. Henry's died in 1954. Alpha & Rex Sherman of Ashland married 
on Nov. 9, 1956 in Omaha. Preceded in death by her parents; eight 
brothers and sisters. A funeral service was held July 3, 2007
at Cedar Hill Methodist Church in rural Greenwood. Interment 
at Cedar Hill Cemetery. 
 
OMAHA - Betty Rose TAYLOR, 94, of Omaha, formerly of Gretna, 
passed away at her home in Omaha on July 1, 2007. Preceded in 
death by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Taylor. Funeral services 
held on July 5, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, in Lincoln. Cremation 
and a private family inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Park.  
 
ATASCOSA, Texas - Melvin D. WONDRA Sr., 74, died June 27, 2007. 
Born July 31, 1932, to William and Klatilda Wondra in Brainard. Served 
in the U. S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. His wife, Mildred and his parents 
precede him in death. A memorial service was held June 30 at Holy Name 
Catholic Church. Mission Park Funeral Chapels of San Antonio, Texas 
was in charge of the arrangements.  
 
ATLANTA, Ga. - Donald Weesner ZIEGLER, 87, died May 28, 2007in Atlanta, Ga. 
During WWII, he served in the Navy. Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, 
Virginia Brannam Ziegler.
