Grant Tribune Sentinel July 2007 Wesley OGDEN was born on Aug. 28, 1926 at Houghton Lake, Mich. Second of four children born to James and Cora Snyder Ogden. Served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Married to Irene (Kokorcheny) Childress on Sept. 19, 1964 in Golden, Colo. Had been in failing health and had been transferred to the Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, Colo., on July 4, 2007 where he died later that night. He had reached the age of 80. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, June Jordan and Susie Henry. Services were held July 7, 2007 at Venango Community Church. Interment was in the Venango Cemetery, with a flag presentation by Perkins County Veterans. Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Myrtie KURKOWSKI was born on Mar 13, 1920 at Gillette, Wyo. Second of four children born to Peter and Ithel Billingsly Madden. Married to Paul Kurkowski on Nov. 28, 1946 at Oshkosh, Neb. They moved to Grant, Neb., where she lived the rest of her life. Paul died in 2000. Myrtie died July 9, 2007. She had reached the age of 87. In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtie was preceded in death by a sister Hazel Egging and a brother Peter Madden. Her body was cremated. A memorial mass was celebrated July 12, 2007 at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Burial of cremains were in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Neb. Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Patsy LEE, 70, of rural Elsie, Neb., died July 16, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 18, at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, NE. Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Leota M. "Mimi" FARMER, 81, of Meridian, Idaho and formerly of Caldwell died July 4, 2007 at a Meridian hospital. Leota Mildred (Rowley) Farmer, also known affectionately as "Mimi," was born June 23, 1926 in Juniata, Neb. Parents were Harold and Lena Rowley. She attended normal school and became a teacher. Married Donald L. Farmer on May 19, 1944. Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Lena Rowley, her husband Don and many friends. Funeral services were held, July 7, 2007 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Interment was at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in Boise. Flahiff Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Letha SINGLETON was born April 25, 1917 in Hayes County, Neb. She was the oldest of two girls born to William and Mary Franklin Young. Attended Kearney State Teachers College and received her degree in education in 1938. Married to James Alvin Singleton on Sept. 26, 1940 at Grainton. Alvin died in 2005 and Letha died peacefully , July 10, 2007. She had reached the age of 90. In addition to her parents and husband, Letha was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn in 1946, and her sister Willema "Billie" Shaefer. Funeral services were July 14, 2007 at the Hayes Center Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial was in the Wallace Morningview Cemetery. Arthur THEILER was born on May 9, 1923 at the Theiler farm home south of Paxton, Neb. He was the youngest of five children born to John and Anna Gruidl Theiler. Inducted into the U. S. Army in April of 1945. He served with the military police in Italy and was honorably discharged in Nov of 1946. Married to Corrinne Holz at the Paxton St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Feb. 1,1951. He died peacefully at home on July 13, 2007. He had reached the age of 84. In addition to his parents and wife, Art was preceded in death by his three brothers, John, Ed and Roy Theiler, and his sister, Edna Gregg. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 16, 2007 at St. Patrick's Church. Interment was in the Paxton Cemetery with a tribute by the Paxton American Legion. Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Lewis Henry OLSON, 68, died July 12, 2007. Memorial services were July 16, 2007 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Golden, Colo. Born to Henry Francis and Christiana Johnson Olson May 1, 1939 in rural Elsie, Neb. Marriage to Katherine Jean Miller on April 12, 1964 in Gering, Neb. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and father-in-law. Cremation was chosen. Patsy LEE was born on June 4, 1937 in Anthon, Iowa. She was one of four girls born to Richard and Mary Hampton Courtney. Married to Vincent Lee on Nov. 26, 1955. She died peacefully in her sleep, July 16, 2007. She had reached the age of 70. Preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jarod Lee. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 18, 2007 at Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Elsie. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery.
