Charles Daniel HOTTOVY, 85, Dwight, died Feb. 2, 2007, in Lincoln.
Born Jan. 5, 1922, to Charles Leopold and Rose (Moravec) Hottovy 
near Dwight. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. 
On Feb. 9, 1948, he married Lorraine Marie Walla in Touhy.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Adolph, Reynold and Richard 
Hottovy; and sisters, Lucille Eiting and Agnes Fiala. Funeral services 
were Feb. 6 at Assumption Catholic Church, Dwight. Interment was 
at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Dwight. 

Milo M. SPOUSTA, 83, Seward, formerly Wilber, died Jan. 26, 2007, 
in Seward. Born Jan. 4, 1924, to Rudolf and Rose (Jindra) Spousta 
near Western. On Feb. 6, 1952, he married Irene E. Karpisek in Wilber.
Preceded in death by his wife, Irene, on Dec. 24, 2004; two infant 
daughters; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bolan; and brother-in-law, Adolph Karpisek.
Funeral services were Jan. 31 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Seward.
Interment was at Wilber Czech Cemetery. 

DeAnn Darlene (Erks) BUNTJER, 55, Waco, died Feb. 8, 2007, in Geneva.
Born Dec. 12, 1951, to Fred J. and Darlene (Gocke) Erks in York. 
On April 18, 1981, she married John Buntjer in Waco.
Preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Erks. Funeral services were 
Feb. 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waco. Interment was at the 
St. John's Cemetery, Waco. 

John Benjaman LANE, 60, Bee, died Feb. 7, 2007, in Bee.
Born Feb. 1, 1947, to John and Blossom (Barton) Lane in Iona, Kan. 
On Nov. 13, 1983, he married Levell in Ash Flat, Ark.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Blossom Lane; son, 
B.J. Lane; and daughter, Johnna Lane. Funeral services were Feb. 12 
at The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, Seward. 

Marjorie Caroline (Kentta) OLTMAN, 79, Seward, died Feb. 8, 2007.
Born May 31, 1927, to Nick and Lillian (Alaniva) Kentta in Englewood, S.D. 
On June 5, 1950, she married Clarence George Oltman in Lincoln.
Preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Victor Nethig and George Wolfe.
Funeral services were Feb. 13 at Wood-Zabka Funeral Home, Seward. 

John M. PALIK, 48, McCool Junction, died Jan. 31, 2007, in Lincoln.
Born June 17, 2958, to Jerome and Marlene (Yindrick) Palik in David City. 
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. On June 19, 1982, he married 
Barb Humlicek in David City. Funeral services were Feb. 3 at St. Mary's 
Catholic Church, David City. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery, 
rural David City (Appleton).

The Rev. John Daniel Kovac, 84, Seward, died Feb. 18, 2007, in Seward.
Born Nov. 3, 1922, to Michael and Alsbetha (Remetta) Kovac in Hazleton, Pa. 
On Aug. 3, 1947, he married Luella Meyer in Hanover, Kan. He was a Lutheran 
Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) minister. Preceded in death by his son, Paul 
Kovac; grandson, David Wogahn; and sister and brother-in-law, Vera and 
Al Verbonitz. Funeral services: Feb. 22, at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Seward. 

Lawrence Joseph LICKTEIG, 67, Seward, died Feb. 16, 2007, in Lincoln.
Born Dec. 12, 1939, to Lawrence Joseph and Rose Pauline (Gellhaus) Lickteig 
in Garnett, Kan. He grew up on a small farm near Scipio, Kan. Joined the U.S. 
Navy in 1957. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rose Lickteig.
Funeral services were Feb. 20 at Wood-Zabka Funeral Home, Seward.
Inurnment with full military honors was at Fort McPherson National 
Cemetery, Maxwell. 

Hugh Russell BARTLETT, 80, David City, died Feb. 22, 2007.
Born July 22, 1926, to Roscoe and Annie Bernice (Hust) Bartlett 
in Sorgho, Ky. On Nov. 27, 1950, he married Dorothy Kovar in Hastings.
Served in the U.S. Navy for two years and the U.S. Marine Corps for 18 
years. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bartlett; and sister, 
Colleen Silbereisen. Funeral services were Feb. 27 at Chermok Funeral 
Home, David City. Interment was at David City Cemetery.

Marie Louise BURHOOP, 95, Utica, died Feb. 23, 2007.
Born Sept. 24, 1911, to William and Agnes (Welk) Niemann near 
Staplehurst. On Aug. 25, 1946, she married Ralph Burhoop in York.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Burhoop; and brothers 
and sister-in-law, Erwin and Florence Niemann, Eldon Niemann 
and Vern Niemann. Funeral services: Feb. 28, at St. Paul Lutheran 
Church, Utica. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery, Waco.

Darlene Mae (Kapke) DETWILER, 79, Milford, formerly Pleasant 
Dale, died Feb. 19, 2007, in Seward. Born Jan. 13, 1928, to Irma 
Kapke in Pleasant Dale. On Jan. 24, 1949, she married Charles 
"Dick" Detwiler in Lincoln. Preceded in death by her husband, 
Charles Detwiler; and three infant sons. Funeral services were 
Feb. 22 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pleasant Dale.
Interment was at Pleasant Dale Cemetery. 

Charles D. HODGKIN, 64, Fremont, died Feb. 24, 2007, in Hot Springs, Ark.
Born April 5, 1942, to Durward and Margaret Hodgkin in Goehner. Served 
in the U.S. Marines from 1960 to 1963. Graduated from Bryan Hospital 
Nursing School, Lincoln, and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975 
as a nurse anesthetist. Preceded in death by his parents, Durward and 
Margaret Hodgkin; and brother, Larry Hodgkin. Funeral services will be 
at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Fremont Alliance Church. Interment 
will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.
    
Hazel E. KIRKPATRICK, 75, York, died Feb. 15, 2007, in Utica.
Born Dec. 17, 1931, to Milo E. and Aretha (Boyle) Zimmerman. 
On Oct. 4, 1950, she married James M. Kirkpatrick in Lincoln.
Preceded in death by her husband, James Kirkpatrick; son, Mervin 
Kirkpatrick; daughter Jane Kirkpatrick; son-in-law, Charles Bennett; 
and brother, James Kirkpatrick. Funeral services were Feb. 18 at 
Metz Chapel, York. Interment was at Council Cemetery, York. 

Willard H. PETERSON, 83, Lincoln, died Feb. 19, 2007.
Born Sept. 25, 1923, to Harry O. and Jessie (Roepke) Peterson 
near Waterville, Kan. Served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran 
of World War II. Funeral services were Feb. 23 at Roper and Sons 
Chapel, Lincoln.
