MITCHELL - Hattie I. BEAVERS, 91, of Mitchell, formerly of Elm Creek
died Jan. 28, 2007. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian 
Church in Elm Creek. Burial will be at Elm Creek Cemetery. Born Apr. 27, 1915
in Oconto to Tom and Anna (McGuigan) Montgomery. On Jan. 24, 1938, she 
married Dale Beavers in Holdrege. He preceded her in death. In addition to 
her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Greg and 
Gary; daughter-in-law, Carol; brothers, Clarence Montgomery and John 
Montgomery; and sisters, Mary Lange Russell, Margorie Chandler and 
Evelyn Beavers Methe. 

HOLDREGE - Lila L. CASE, 84, of Holdrege, formerly of Bertrand, died 
Jan. 31, 2007. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge 
of arrangements.  

LINCOLN - Ruth C. FOWLKES, 81, of Cairo, formerly of Wood River
died Jan. 30, 2007, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln. 
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant 
Cemetery south of Cairo. Born Aug. 19, 1925, in Iowa to Charles 
and Lillian (Indracek) Brisbane. On Oct. 18, 1942, she married 
William Fowlkes in Los Angeles. He died Dec. 21, 2000. 

GRAND ISLAND - Mildred E. MUHLBACH, 80, of Grand Island, formerly 
of Cairo, died Jan. 30, 2007. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at 
Zion Lutheran Church north of Shelton. Burial will be at Cameron 
Cemetery north of Wood River. Born Mar. 2, 1926, near Litchfield 
to Carl and Mary (Hyslop) Smith. On June 2, 1950, she married 
Dale Muhlbach in Cairo. He died Jan. 2, 1999. 

KEARNEY - Evelyn L. OLSEN, 78, of Kearney died Jan. 31, 2007. 
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist 
Church. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. 

LEONARDVILLE, Kan. - Gladys E. POPPERT, 97, of Leonardville, 
formerly of Holdrege, Neb., died Jan. 30, 2007. Services will be 
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in 
Holdrege. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. 
The casket will be closed. Born Nov. 25, 1909, northwest of 
Oxford, Neb., in Furnas County to Lester and Maude (Hodge) Eliker. 
On March 5, 1930, she married Russell Poppert. He died in 1968. 
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her 
parents; brother, Frank "Jiggs" Eliker; and an infant 
grandson, Timothy. 

KEARNEY - Edna E. RICHMAN, 99, of Kearney died Feb. 1, 2007.

LEXINGTON - Norman R. ROBERTSON, 78, died Jan. 30, 2007. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church 
in Lexington. Burial with military honors will be at Greenwood 
Cemetery in Lexington. Born Mar. 28, 1928, in Haskins, Ohio, 
to R.L. Pat and Dorotha (DeVerna) Robertson. He married 
Mary Simon. Married Lola Hanson. On June 24, 1979, he 
married Dolores Huffman in Oxford. 

ELM CREEK - Ruby DENNING, 75, and her daughter, Connie 
Beavers, 51, both of Elm Creek, died Feb. 1, 2007, from injuries 
in a car accident south of Elm Creek. O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel 
Funeral Home of Elm Creek is in charge of arrangements.  

KEARNEY - Rosa E. MARROW, 88, of Kearney died Feb. 2, 2007.

MOUNT ASHLAND, Ore. - Ellen Kopf MILLER, 43, of Central Point died 
Jan. 28, 2007, while skiing at Mount Ashland. Services will be at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, Neb. Burial will be 
at Osco Cemetery. Born Feb. 26, 1963, in Minden to Del and Joan 
(Raun) Kopf. On June 24, 1989, she married David Miller. 
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.  

KEARNEY - Evelyn L. OLSEN, 78, of Kearney died Jan. 31, 2007, 
at her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United 
Methodist Church. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Born Sept. 3, 1928
northwest of Amherst to Robert and Elva (Stevens) Albrecht. 
On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Tommy Olsen. He died Aug. 25, 1992. 
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, 
Terry, and one brother. 

KEARNEY - Edna E. RICHMAN, 99, of Kearney died Feb. 1, 2007.

Born Dec. 9, 1907, in Huntley to Frank and Ola (Skiles) Brown. 
On July 23, 1936, she married John Richman. He preceded her in death.

son-in-law, Robert Armagost; brother, Dewitt Brown; and sisters, Bernice 
Harbaugh and Maxine Kubleck. 

FRANKLIN - Robert W. WISTRAND, 86, of Franklin died Feb. 1, 2007. 
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hutchins Funeral Chapel in Franklin. 
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Born June 30, 1920, in 
Phillips County, Kan., to Harry and Frona (Schulke) Wistrand. 
On April 3, 1944, he married Betty Lucas in Dearing, Kan. 
 
GOTHENBURG - Opal L. BAUER, 88, of Gothenburg died Feb. 1, 2007. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in 
Gothenburg. Burial will be at Gothenburg Cemetery. Born Feb. 9, 1918, 
in Lexington to Bert and Lena (Lange) Hollibaugh. On June 24, 1937, she 
married Conrad Bauer in Norton, Kan. He died in 1994. In addition to her 
husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and 
two brothers. 

ELM CREEK - Connie L. BEAVERS, 51, of Elm Creek died Feb. 1, 2007, 
from injuries resulting from a car accident south of Elm Creek. 
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church 
of Elm Creek. Burial will be at Elm Creek Cemetery. O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel

Born March 13, 1955, in Kearney to Loren and Ruby (Nitsch) Denning. 
On June 3, 1973, she married Vernon Beavers in Aurora, Colo. 
Preceded in death by her grandparents and stepson, Bruce Beavers.

Church in Bertrand. Burial will be later in Gordon. The body was cremated.

Born Sept. 27, 1922, near Casper, Wyo., to Frank and Hazel (Dewing) Lorenz. 
On Mar. 16, 1946, she married Robert Case in Gordon. He died in 1996. 

OMAHA - Mayra Lili LEIVA, 41, of Lexington died Feb. 1, 2007.

in Lexington. Burial will be later in her hometown in Guatemala. 
Born July 12, 1965, in El Lobo, Gualan, Zacapa, Guatemala, to Manuel 
Leiva and Marta Vargas. Married Esban Galdamez. 

GRAND ISLAND - Norma M. SHADA, 95, of Grand Island died Feb. 1, 2007. 
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. George Orthodox Church in

Grand Island is in charge of arrangements. Born Feb. 1, 1912, in Omaha 
to John and Helen (Karem) Shada. Preceded in death by her parents; 
brothers, Nicholas, George, John Jr. and Victor Shada; sisters, Mabel 
McCauley and Josephine Wetzig; son-in-law, Jesse "Jim" Munoz; and 
nephews, Johnny and Jerry Shada.  

LEXINGTON - Frank THORNBURG, 79, of Lexington died Feb. 1, 2007
at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran 
Church in Lexington. Burial with military honors will be at Minden Cemetery. 
Born Mar. 5, 1927, in Fort Morgan, Colo., to Monte and Hazel (Harvey) Thornburg. 
On June 7, 1947, he married Pauline Grams in Minden.

Albert Hervert in Ravenna. He preceded her in death. In addition 
to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Brent and 
Jerry; daughter, Carol; granddaughter, Heather; son-in-law, 
Jack; and sisters, Eldine and Angeline. 

BERTRAND - Gearo PETERSON, 94, of Bertrand died Feb. 3, 2007. 
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran 
Church in Bertrand. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery 
north of Bertrand. Born Aug. 2, 1912, north of Bertrand to John 
and Ethel (Dahl) Peterson. On March 3, 1935, he married Florence 
Bard. She died July 24, 2000. In addition to his wife, he was 
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carol Peterson. 

COZAD - Lois N. RASMUSSEN, 81, of Cozad, formerly of Franklin 
and Minden, died Feb. 2, 2007. Her body was cremated. 
There will be no services. Born Oct. 7, 1925, in rural Franklin Co., 
to Alfred and Hannah (Theilen) Olson. On May 23, 1948, she 
married Dan Rasmussen in Naponee.

Born Aug. 27, 1933, near Broken Bow to Fred and Elsie (Hobbs) Wood. 
On Dec. 14, 1957, he married Shirley Kersting in Kearney.

MINDEN - Mariam F. JENSEN, 83, of Minden died Feb. 9, 2007. 
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in 
Minden. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. Born Nov. 16, 1923, in 
Minden to Clarence and Della (Barnes) Borgaard. On Aug. 16, 1942
she married Robert Lynn. On Mar. 6, 1976, she married Harold Jensen. 
He died in 1995. In addition to her second husband, she was 
preceded in death by her son, John Lynn. 

KEARNEY - Dora L. LINDGREN, 91, of Kearney, formerly of Uehling 
and Fremont, died Feb. 6, 2007. Services were Saturday at Elim 
Lutheran Church of Swaburg in rural Hooper. Burial was at Elim 
Lutheran Cemetery. Born Dec. 19, 1915, near Oakland to Anton 
and Almeda (Peterson) Carlson. On Jan. 3, 1937, she married 
Julian Lindgren in North Bend. 

KEARNEY - Ivan E. SMITH, 83, of Kearney died Feb. 10, 2007. 
Services were today at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in 
Kearney. Burial will be at Sharon Springs (Kan.) Cemetery. 
Memorial services will be later at the cemetery. Born 
Feb. 2, 1924, in Tribune, Kan., to Porter and Oma 
(Douglas) Smith. In Aug. 1947, he married Dollie Genest. 
She preceded him in death. In Sept. 1970, he married 
LaVara Bogenhagen. She preceded him in death. 
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by 
two brothers and four sisters. 

MINDEN - Fred K. WHITE, 80, of Minden died Feb. 10, 2007. 
Burial will be at Minden Cemetery with military rites by 
Minden American Legion Post 94 and the Heartwell 
Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born June 17, 1926, in Minden 
to Robert and Fannie (Monk) White. On Aug. 24, 1963, he 
married Naomi Holl. Preceded in death by his son, Kenneth
and eight brothers and sisters. 

CALLAWAY - Elmer R. "Sonny" WOODWARD, 84, of Callaway 
died Feb. 11, 2007. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in

FRIEND - Elmer BONSACK, 80, of Friend, formerly of Gibbon
died Feb. 12, 2007. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at 
Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon. Family burial services 
will be later. Born Nov. 29, 1926, in Hall Co., to Herbert 
and Charlotte (Wiggins) Bonsack. On May 24, 1947, he 
married Marie Poffenbarger. She died in 1996. 

KEARNEY - Harold CHRISTENSEN, 83, of Ord died Feb. 10, 2007. 
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ord United Methodist 
Church. Burial will be at Ord City Cemetery with military honors 
by Ord Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7029 and American 
Legion Post 38. Born June 1, 1923, in Valley County to Raymond 
and Antonia (Zikmund) Christensen. On May 19, 1946, he married 
Deloris Bumgarner. Preceded in death by his parents. 

GILBERT, Ariz. - Beverly Florence LOWE, 71, of Queen Creek died 
Feb. 5, 2007, in Gilbert. Services: at Meldrum Mortuary Chapel in 
Mesa. Burial was at Mesa Cemetery. Born Mar. 2, 1935, in 
Kearney, Neb., to John and Iola (Davis) Long. Married Bert Lowe. 
He preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, she was 
preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Franklin "Bill" 
Long and Martin Long.

ALMA - Lawrence Edward John EHRKE, 91, of Alma, formerly of 
Stamford, died Feb. 18, 2007. Services: Feb. 21, 2007 at Orleans 
Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Deaver Cemetery in Furnas County. 
Born Aug. 3, 1915, southwest of Stamford to Herman and Gardie (Stroh) Ehrke. 
On May 14, 1940, he married Frances Johnette in Hollinger. She died June 7, 2005. 
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kent 
Ehrke in 1951; son-in-law, Douglas Loewenstein; an infant grandson; sister, 
Violet Bose; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. 

STROMSBURG - John Lee HATTING, 74, of Stromsburg, formerly of Lexington
died Jan. 30, 2007. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 
Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial of cremains will be 
at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. The body was cremated. 
Born May 9, 1932, south of Lexington to William and Emma 
(Foss) Hatting. On Oct. 2, 1971, he married Jane Dugan 
in Lexington. 

OMAHA - Andrew SCHROEDER, 57, of Elm Creek died Feb. 17, 2007. 
Services: Feb. 22, 2007 at Elm Creek High School. Burial will be at 
Overton Cemetery. Born Nov. 16, 1949, in Kearney to Edward and 
Iva (Parks) Schroeder. On Dec. 11, 1966, he married Vickie 
Muirhead in Elm Creek. He was preceded in death by his 
grandparents, his father and a sister, Darlene. 

GRAND ISLAND - Leila SMITH, 84, of Grand Island died Feb. 18, 2007. 
Services: Feb. 22, 2007 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial 
will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. 
Born Aug. 28, 1922, in Central City to Ralph and Gertrude 
(Whitney) Wise. On Dec. 16, 1939, she married Marion Smith 
in North Platte. Preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert Smith, 
Marion Smith, and Raymond Smith; sisters, Betty Henderson, Bonnie 
Williams and Phyllis Wise; and brothers, Ralph Wise, 
Vincent Wise and Jim Wise.

SUMNER - Virgel L. VOLLMER, 89, of Sumner died Feb. 16, 2007, as 
a result of a car accident near Sumner. Services: Feb. 22, 2007 at

Cemetery. Born May 25, 1917, in Dawson County near Overton 
to Fred Sr. and Jessie (Musser) Vollmer. On April 15, 1940, he 
married Bernice Wempen. 

KEARNEY - Bonita June "Bonnie" ARTZ, 78, of Alma died Feb. 22, 2007.
Services: at First Christian Church in Alma and O.E.S. funeral rites by 
Republican Chap-ter 304 of Republican City. Burial will be in Alma Cemetery.
Born April 8, 1928, east of Trumbull in Clay County to Doyle and Mabel 
(Hill) Kreutz. On Aug. 22, 1948, she married Dean Artz southeast of 
Trumbull. Preceded in death by her father in 1953, her mother in 
1980 and sister, Geraldine Miller and her husband, Floyd.

COZAD — Arlene R. MORRIS, 93, of Cozad died Feb. 22, 2007.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church 
in Cozad. Burial will be at Cozad Cemetery. Born July 30, 1913, in 
Cozad to Thomas and Darlene (Miller) Hughes. On Mar. 3, 1935, she 
married Glen Morris in Phillipsburg, Kan. He died in 1981.

Born April 21, 1933, in Franklin to Chester and Doris (Clow) Beck.
On June 13, 1954, she married Charles Prusia in Franklin. Survivors include 
her husband; daughter, Allisson Thomason of Lakewood; her mother of 
Franklin; and a grandson. 

AMERICUS, Kan. - Rodney P. BRAKEMAN, 54 of Americus, formerly 
of Broken Bow, Neb., died Feb. 27, 2007, at his home.

married Mary Copper in Broken Bow. 

KEARNEY - Shauna FITZGERALD, 44, of Kearney died Feb. 28, 2007. 
Services: at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be at the 
Kearney Cemetery. 

KEARNEY - John A. HARRIS, 61, of Minden, died Feb. 28, 2007. 
O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  

BAYARD - Elsie I. LIAKOS, 76, of Bayard died Feb. 28, 2007, of 
Parkinson's disease. Services: at Faith United Church of Christ in 
Bayard. Burial will be at Bayard Cemetery. Born July 31, 1930, in 
Morrill County to Alex and Katherine (Weitzel) Stricker. On 
Dec. 26, 1956, she married Leo Liakos in Bayard. 
He died Feb. 1, 1992. 

HOLSTEIN, Iowa - E. Dale McELHINNY, 83, of Holstein, formerly of 
Kearney, Neb., died Feb. 27, 2007. Services: at Horner-Lieske-Horner 
Mortuary in Kearney. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery with military 
honors by American Legion Post 52, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 
759 and the Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team. 
Born Nov. 30, 1923, in Detroit to Roscoe and Anna (Ducheon) Small. 
On Mar 21, 1946, she married G. Leslie McElhinny in Washington, D.C. 
He died on July 24, 1997. In addition to her husband, she was 
preceded in death by her son, Chris; and one brother. 

KEARNEY - Leland G. "Mack" McGRAW Jr., 74, of Kearney died Feb. 27, 2007
at his home. Services: at First Lutheran Church. Military honors will be by 
American Legion Post 52, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759 and the 
Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team. Born April 16, 1932, in 
Vedigre to Leland and Julia (Somer) McGraw. On Sept. 22, 1952, he 
married Margarete Roller in Kuppingen, Germany. Preceded in death 
by his parents and infant daughter Margarete Ann. 

PIERCE - Selma "Sherry" Mae NICHOLSON, 84, of Pierce, formerly of 
Holdrege and of Sturgis, S.D., died Feb. 28, 2007. Graveside services 
will be later at Draper (S.D.) Cemetery. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home 
in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements. Born Sept. 3, 1922, in Draper 
to Wilber and Dora (Roush) Sherwood. 

MINDEN - Betty J. ONDRAK, 82, of Minden, formerly of Grand Island, died 
Feb. 22, 2007. Services: at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand 
Island. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Born Aug. 17, 1924, 
in Cairo to Ernest and Kathryn (Coveny) Johnson. On Nov. 21, 1945, she 
married Donald Ondrak in Grand Island. He died Mar 1, 1988. In addition to 
her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Gelbordt and 
Maxine Baasch and brothers, Merle and Robert. 

HOLDREGE - Rick Lee RICHMAN, 51, of Holdrege died Feb. 26, 2007. 
Services: at Huntley United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 
Bainbridge Cemetery in Huntley. Born Feb. 22, 1956, in Alma to 
Harvey and Zella (McConnell) Richman. On Nov. 1, 1980, he 
married Debra Boston in Alma. They later divorced.
