Born to Edward and Anna Wittwer on Sept. 20, 1921 in McCook, Neb. On Aug. 15, 1942, Art enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 25, 1942, Art married Ruth Wilson in Las Vegas, Nev. Preceded in death by Ruth, his wife of 62 years; his parents, an infant brother, a sister, four brothers-in-law and two nephews and one niece. Funeral services: Feb. 6, 2007, at 10 a.m. (MT), at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial. Interment followed at the Hayes Center Cemetery, Hayes Center, Neb., at 3 p.m. (CT). Neva Charline KANOST, age 81, of Arapahoe, Neb., died Feb. 5, 2007 in Kearney, Neb. Born on March 24, 1925 in Wauneta, Neb. to Charles Robert and Flossie Elisabeth (Earnhardt) Kanost. Graduated from Kearney State Teacher's College on Aug. 3, 1962. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, William W. Kanost; two sisters, Fern Kanost and Lois McGooden; and niece, Rita Ann Conner. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe. Inurnment will be at a later date. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe is in charge of arrangements. Jim CURTIS died Feb. 2, 2007. Funeral services will be today (Thursday morning). Eula Marie BRIGGS was born April 5, 1925, at Imperial, Neb., to William E. and Nellie M. (Edwards) Makinster. Married Charles Briggs on July 31, 1945, in McCook, Neb. Eula passed away Feb. 8, 2007. She was 81 years of age. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; grandson, Tony Newkirk; great grandson, Kasey Josjer; and brother, Bob Makinster. Funeral services: Feb. 13, 2007, at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Neb. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Rose KRAJEWSKI was born on April 20, 1919, in a farm house near Fullerton, Neb. She was the fourth of seven children born to Joseph and Anna Kiolbasa Kumor. Married to Gerald Krajewski on April 2, 1940 in Grant. Gerald died in 1989. Rose died at Indian Hills on Feb. 10, 2007. She was 87. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by one sister, Sister Mary Casimir and one brother, Dan Kumor. The Vigil Service: Feb. 14 at 6 p.m., at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Feb. 15, 2007 at the Mother of Sorrows Church. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery. Frank JOHNSON of Seattle, Wash., died at his home Feb. 8, 2007. Among surviving family are his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Rod Fuller of Imperial. Lester Melvin WOODWORTH was born Sept. 22, 1929, to Melvin and Macie Woodworth at Loretta, Neb. In 1950, he married Barbara J. Erlewine of Grant, Neb. To this union, five children were born. Entered the Navy in Nov. 1951 and was discharged in 1955. Services were held Feb. 19, at Smith Downtown Chapel in Montana. Interment followed at Shepherd Cemetery, with military rites. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Evelyn CHAMBERS Evelyn Jacks was born in Imperial on Dec. 14, 1912, to Seig and Maude Jacks. She passed from this life suddenly on Jan. 18, 2007 at the age of 94 in El Cajon, Calif. She & Paul Chambers married on May 22, 1939. They were able to have 42 years of marriage before Paul's death in 1981. Survivors include daughter, Paula (Chambers) Rainey; son-in-law, Dwight Rainey; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul; brother, Bob Jacks; and brother, Everett Jacks. She was laid to rest next to her husband at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego on Jan. 29, 2007, following a memorial Mass at St. Kieran's Catholic Church in El Cajon, California. Donald COX, age 85, passed away Feb. 18, 2007, Wauneta, Neb. Funeral services for Donald Cox will be Feb. 23, at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Liewer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Berniece Fontella TEPLY died Feb. 17, 2007 at Imperial, Neb. Funeral Mass was Feb. 21, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta. Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Clyde Dennis GRIMES was born Jan. 2, 1921, at Best, Neb., in southwest Chase County, Neb., to Clyde R. and Mary I. (Taylor) Grimes. Was inducted in the U.S. Army on July 31, 1942 and served in Europe during WWII. In 1948, he was united in marriage to Lorene E. Brown at Benkelman, Neb. He died Feb. 15, 2007, Imperial, Neb. He was 86 years of age. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Buck. Graveside inurnment services were held Feb. 19, at Green Lawn Cemetery, Lamar, Neb. Military Rites were provided by the VFW and American Legion Posts of Imperial. Dirk A. STINNETTE, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., since 1982, passed away on Feb. 15, 2007. Born on Sept. 6, 1959 in Imperial, Neb., to Verl and Mary Ann Stinnette. Preceded in death by his father, Verl Stinnette. Funeral services: Feb. 23, 2007 at St. Joe's Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. Thomas Owen DILL was born Nov. 20, 1953, in Lincoln, Neb., to Thomas E. and Eleanor M. (Jesse) Dill. Tom passed away Feb. 24, 2007. He was 53 years of age. Preceded in death by his father Thomas E. Dill; grandparents Frank and Bess Jesse, Harry and Lena Bickner and John Dill; father-in-law Leo Cahill and brother-in-law Michael Cahill. Mass of the Christian burial was held: Febr. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Imperial. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Robert A. WEST, age 86, of Wood River, Neb., formerly of York died Feb. 26, 2007 at Wood River. Born Feb. 27, 1920 at Wauneta, Neb. to Samuel E. and Leona L. (Churchill) West. On April 11, 1968 he was married to Elna Rae Kitt at Imperial. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Sam A. West. Funeral services: Mar. 2, 2007 at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Donald Wayne COX was born on Jan. 3, 1922, in Rural Chase Co., Neb., to Vern and Hattie (Marvin) Cox. On Jan. 9, 1941, Don married Madeline Mae Dixon and together they had one son, Jerome Wayne Cox. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Bergen. Don passed away Feb. 18, 2007. He was 85 years, 1 month and 15 days of age. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madeline; brother, Robert; his sisters, Dorothy Adams and Genevieve Thumlert; daughter-in-law, Virginia (Sis) Cox.
