JUANITA L. HANDLEY

Juanita L. HANDLEY, 63, of Julesburg, CO died July 31, 2008 in Julesburg, CO. Visitation was held Monday August 4, 2008 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg. Graveside Services were Tuesday August 5, 2008 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Broadwater, NE, with PMA Ann Bairn officiating. Juanita was born January 12, 1945 in Bayard, Nebraska to Adam and Emma Ellen (Morgan) Yeager. Juanita graduated from Broadwater High School in 1963. Juanita worked at the Sedgwick County Sheriffs Office for eight years until she retired in 2006. She also worked for 10 years at the Senior Center in Ovid. She especially enjoyed quilting and gardening. She is survived by mother Ellen Yeager, sons Clinton Handley, Randall Handley, and Adam Handley, and brothers Raymond and Fred Yeager. Juanita was preceded in death by her Father Adam Yeager and brother Bill Yeager. Memorials can be made to the Juanita Handley memorial fund C/O Austin-Tennant Funeral Home P.O. VELMA G. HANWAY

Velma G. HANWAY, 74, of Nampa, who died Sunday, July 24, 1988, at home, will be conducted Friday, July 29, at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, California. Mrs Hanway was born May 3 1914 at Broadwater, Nebraska, to Roy and Leona Helm. She was reared and educated in Nebraska. She married Milton E. Hanway of Broadwater in1931. In 1942 the moved with their daughter, to California, where they operated a rest home in Palo Alto, Velma retired in 1977 and they moved to MT. View Calif. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church there. Milton died March 30, 1984. When Pacific Press moved to Nampa, Velma and her daughter moved to Nampa to make their home. She is survived by her daughter; three sisters.

Irene Golden HUMPAL, 77 - b Broadwater, NE. Resident of Yucaipa, CA. d Sunday, Cleveland, TN , result of auto accident 1 Nov 1992. Daughter Kay Kuzma also in the accident, expected to recover. Kuzma is author of a newspaper column "Family Matters". Survived by 3 daughters, 1 son, 10 grdch., 1 g-grdch.; 2 sisters. Visitation - Fri. at 9 am, Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th Street, Boulder, CO. Service - Fri. at 1 pm, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Boulder, CO. Burial: Mt. View Memorial Park, following service.

Mary Elizabeth �Liz� HARDT, 100, passed away on June 1, 2003, at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard.

She was born Feb. 19, 1903, in Huck, Russia, the daughter of Jacob and Eva Liz (Koch) Geir Sr. She arrived in the U.S. in 1913 and became a U.S. citizen on April 28, 1958.

She received her education in Lincoln. and was confirmed in 1917 at St. John�s American Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Liz resided there until the family moved to Western Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Fred Hardt Jr., on Nov. 26, 1922, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bayard. She made her home in McGrew for the next 71 years until moving to the Bayard Chimney Rock Villa in 1992.

Liz enjoyed oil painting. She knitted and crocheted numerous afghans and beautiful bed spreads. She planted hundreds of trees during her lifetime and enjoyed raising flowers. Liz volunteered many hours at the Minatare American Legion. She and her late husband went on numerous fishing trips. Her favorite pastime was dancing. Liz was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Bayard, where she spent many hours making butterballs and noodles.

Survivors include her two daughters; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Hardt Jr., infant son Herbert Vernon and Donald V. Hardt of McGrew; son-in-law Rex Coffee; grandchild Buff Coffee of Chadron; brothers Jacob Jr., John, Phillip, Alexander and Victor Geier; sisters Mollie Hoover Fiedler and Pauline McKee, all of Mt., Clemens, Mich.
