JAMES LYNDON GAINES

GAINES, JAMES LYNDON, age 85, a resident of Newport Beach since 1954, passed away May 26, 1999 as a result of respiratory complications. Born in Bayard, Nebraska. James served in the Coast Guard 1945 during World War II. He was retired from Cal Trans as a engineer. James loved the ocean and was an avid boater and member of Balboa Yacht Club for over 40 years. Graveside funeral services, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 1999 at Pacific View Cemetery, Newport Beach.

FRANK A. GARCIA

, 72, of La Habra, passed away Friday July 1, 2005 of pneumonia. Frank was born April 10, 1933 in the small town of Bayard, Nebraska. In 1952 he moved to California, where he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the aftermath of the Korean War. Following his return from duty, he met his wife, R. Pastrano, and they soon married. They would have celebrated forty-three years of marriage this year. Frank had many interest in his life. His love of the outdoors had him hiking all over the California mountian ranges. When he couldn't get to the mountians, he's walk miles and miles in the city just for the sport of it. Woodcarving was another of his may passions, and one he was quite talented at. He founded The Temecula Valley Wood Carving Club, which eventually becam part of the California Wood Carvers Guild. Frank also loved the sport of boxing. Up until a few weeks prior to his passing, he would often go to the La Habra Boxing Club to support the up-and-coming boxers. Frank truly liked talking to people. He was blessed to have developed so many loving and caring friendships in his life. He leave behind his wife; two daugthers, of San Clemente and La Habra; a son of La Habra; six granchildren; six sisters, of Pico Rivers, Claremont, Albuquerque, NM, San Marco, La Habra, and Fredricksburg, VA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 30, 2005 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in La Habra. A celebration of Frank's life will follow the memorial service.

WILLIAM L."SPEED" GEORGE

William L."Speed" GEORGE, 75 - b. 10 Aug 1915, Vona, CO.; d. Jan.30, 1991. Lived in Sidney and Bayard. 1 Sep 1940: m. Mary McVay. City councilman for 5 yrs.; Morrill County Commissioner for 6 yrs; Mayor of Bayard for 26 yrs. Was active in securing the lighting of Chimney Rock.
