On right hand side of this photo are the Gronquist pioneers. Forth from the right end of the front row is Lawrence W. Davis (big man with dark vest). Next to him is Louis J. Gronquist (aka Lars Johnsson). He is the man with the hat on his knee. To his right Ellen (Olsson) Gronquist (the lady with the white looking dress). To her right is Ida Josephine (Gronquist) Davis (dark dress with white collar). On left side of Lawrence W. Davis, in row behind him is Frank Oscar Gronquist (white shirt dark tie). To the left of Frank is his sister Anna Harmonia (Gronquist) Hardin. To the left of her is either Alvin Omelious Gronquist or Joseph Barnhard Gronquist.

Note below from Ron Barnes

The gentleman standing on the far left with a hat and his arms folded is my grandfather Francis Leroy Barnes. He had a wooden leg and stood in this pose often with a slight lean and a little ways away from other people. I believe I have pinpointed my grandmother Ethel seated in the middle of the crowd, but I am waiting for confirmatin from some of my cousins. The Barnes family consisted of Roy and Ethel (he did not like being called Francis), sons Donald and Guy, and daughters Francis and Alma Maxine (Macky). Francis married a local boy Fran Strout, they were called "big fran" and "little fran". All of the family settled in Salida and then Montrose, Colorado. If you have ties to this family please contact me, Ron Barnes at [email protected].

Can you identify anyone else in this picture? If so, we would like your help. Please email Denel A. Gronquist Widowski [[email protected]] with your ideas.
