Lydia Jane Johnson was born in Ohio, April 12, 1858, and passed away March 8, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 25 days. At two years of age she, with her parents moved to Iowa. Here she lived with her parents until her marriage to Thomas J. Shoemaker, on June 6, 1876. To this union were born 13 children. Mr. Shoemaker passed away in February 1910.
She later married Eli Bennett and moved to Franklin where Mr. Bennett died a few years later. She then married Eli Johnson, who is left to mourn her passing.
Others left to mourn her departure are Walter Shoemaker of Denver, James Shoemaker of Sacramento, Calif., George Shoemaker of Emmett, Idaho, Mrs. Gertie Brandson of Riverton, Wyo., Mrs. Marie Van Camp of Franklin, Fay Shoemaker of Franklin, Mrs. Hattie Willis of Skidmore, Mo., Mrs. Art Overleese of Riverton, 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and a host of friends. Five children preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were John Ziegler, Will Cline, Ed Walker, Harlan Brown, Frank Kincaid, Henry Scharff.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Willin and Dale of Skidmore, Mo., Mrs. Orlie Shoemaker of Hamlet, Mr. and Mrs. Nordhauseur of Wauneta, Ray Johnson of Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Secrest of Red Cloud, Mr. and Mrs. Rausner of Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Hagler of Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Hurby of Red Cloud.
