Perpetual Care Fund for cemetery upkeep--Your help is needed!!

St. John's Lutheran Church was chartered in 1880.  A church and cemetery were soon located one mile east of Ohiowa.  As years went by, another cemetery was taken over by St. John's due to a merger of two churches.

It is becoming very difficult for rural churches and communities to keep up local cemeteries due to the decreasing size of the church membership.  Several volunteers have kept the cemeteries mowed, kept the trees trimmed and fenced the cemeteries.  If the care of the cemeteries is turned over to the county, they will no longer be mowed.  The grass will be burned off once per year as is the case with several small cemeteries south of Ohiowa.  Please help us avoid this as it is not an adequate way to maintain the cemetery.

If you would like to contribute to the Perpetual Care Fund for these cemeteries please send your contribution to one of the members of the St. John's Perpetual Care Committee listed below:

Darlene Most, P. O. Box 145, Ohiowa, NE 68416

Gaylene Gaston, 314 Rd 23, Tobias, NE 68453

Alan Mussman, RR! Box 78, Alexandria, NE 68303

Your help and support is very much appreciated.

Location:

When driving from Ohiowa, Nebraska go east on Highway 74 for 1.5 miles, then turn south on the first road and go 1 mile south. The cemetery is just a short distance west from the corner.  The cemetery is located in the northeast corner of Section 16 of Franklin Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
