DRY VALLEY CEMETERY
This is a public cemetery and is accessible from the road. On Hwy 183, travel 10 miles south out of Sargent, Custer County, Nebraska and then turn and go ½ miles west - or from Broken Bow, take Hwy 70 east out of town. Go 13 miles on Hwy 70, turn north on Hwy 183 and travel 6 miles. Turn west and go ½ mile more. The sign at the cemetery says, "Dry Valley Cemetery 1885"
The Dry Valley Cemetery Association was formed on June 2, 1897 at
the Dry Valley Church in the Dry Valley community of Custer County, Nebraska.
J. W. Scott was elected as Chairman; H. B. Glover was elected as Secretary;
J. W. Scott, W. R. Mattox and J. W. McRae were elected trustees;
H. B. Glover was elected clerk. the price of lots in Dry Valley Cemetery
were set on June 8, 1898 as follows: 10 x 32 foot lot for $4.00;
16 x 32 lot for $6.00; 10 x 12 lot for $2.50; 16 x 12 lots for $3.50.
Mrs. Ester Amos gave fence material to erect a fence around the cemetery
in May of 1924 and J. W. Mattox supervised its construction.
