HILLER - OKSENDAHL - HURD - WESTGARD

Lisa Guerra
Date:
24 Jan 2004
This is in a history book from 1936:
"John HILLER was born in Norway and emigrated to the United States. When he came to Pierce County and settled near Barton in 1886, he came from Traill County, North Dakota. He farmed here only a short time before he died, leaving a widow and six children, two sons and four daughters; Sven, who moved away from here and died some years later; Hans, residing here at present; Julie was married to Thomas OKSENDAHL and died some years ago; Ragna is also dead. She was Mrs. George HURD; Olava became Mrs. Hildus HILLER and lives in Canada; Emma, now Mrs. Anton WESTGARD, lives near Barton and is farming. Mrs. Randina HILLER survived her husband and farmed for many years after he died. She also died near Barton many years ago."

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lisa

Looking for information on Ferdinand HILZENDAGER (HILSENDEGER) born 1874, Odesa Russia, who is listed on the 1910 Census. He is grandfather to my husband. Fred lived and died in Pierce County ND. Married to Anna Marie WANGLER with the following children: Baltzar, Mathew, John, Jacob, Lena, Clara, Anna, and Edward (with a possible daughter named Barbara). Looking for any info on who his parents were, when they migrated, etc. I believe they are part of the Germans from Russia group. Could possibly be from an 1852 Family of Adam or Joseph HILSENDEGER from Baden. Any info would be appreciated!

MELHEIM - NORD

Fran Melheim
Date:
23 Apr 2004
I am looking for info on the town of Hurricane Lake, Pierce Co., North Dakota. My husband's father Sigurd MELHEIM was born there or in that area in 1923 (recently deceased.) His father, Severt MELHEIM, and wife Ella J. NORD had four other children at this time: Mathilda, Arnold, Gladys and Edith. I haven't been able to find this family in the online census records for 1920, North Dakota or anywhere else! By 1930 they show up in York township, Benson County, N. Dak. living on their own farm. Any info re this family and/or the area is appreciated.
