My Great Uncle, Percy Fleming, b. abt 1889 in Chippewa Co., WI moved to Rosehill, Foster Co., ND. I have found him and his family on the 1920 Census there. His wife's name was Hilda and she was born in Germany. They had three daughters according to the 1920 Federal Census by the names of: Evelyn, Dorothy, and Lillian. All were born in North Dakota. The book, "Cemeteries of Foster County, North Dakota" index lists Percy and Hilda Fleming of being buried there, so I feel they spent most of their lives in Rosehill. I'm interested in finding any other descendants or relatives of this family. I've been researching this Fleming line many years with little headway and would also like to know if there are any living relatives out there. If anyone could help me with this, I'd be most appreciative. You may e-mail me at [email protected]

My grandfather on my mother's side was Oscar Victor Hanson. His sister was Selma Matilda Hanson. I have Selma's birth certificate which states that she was born in Foster County, Kensal, North Dakota. Selma and Oscar's parents were Hans Christan Hanson and Sarah Bratten Hanson, I don't know if there were more siblings or not. Sarah was Sigrid Olson before she came to the US. Apparently also, Hans had a sister, Sine, who married someone name John Fredrickson. I have many newspaper clipping that Selma saved about obituaries, mostly in the "Foster County Independent, Carrington, North Dakota". Apparently a homestead certificate was issued to Hans Hanson on 5/31/1898--#9034. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with additional information or direction for me. Thanks in advance.

Am seeking information in regards to Lee Ezra Miller married Ruth Amanda Brown, approximately 1908- 1909.
Am particularly interested in finding a marriage record for the above and also any dissolution of marriage from 1911- 1918. Also birth record for Ruth Anne/Emma Lucille Miller 25 July 1909, possible at the Miller farm.
This is a particulalry sad story in Carrington history......but, am trying to determine when and if Ruth and Lee married, and also, a dissolution in regards to this marriage, as Ruth remarried in 1918, in Ill, conflicting records show Lee as a widower in 1952.........
my grandmother is Emma Lucille Miller.....
I have quite a bit of history on the Miller family, but, this one item, marriage record or dissolution is being extremely evasive.
thank you

I am trying to research my father's family. His mother's name is Minnie
(Wilhiminia) Anthony. She is shown on the 1920 Census for Foster county.
She is listed as head of house hold with daughter Crystal, sons Clinton (my
dad) and Marshall. She is not on the 1925 Census and I believe that she
died during the period from 1920-1925. Clinton is 15 and listed with a
family not named Anthony. I believe that Marshall was mentally impaired but
have no idea where is was sent. The 1920 Census shows that she owned land.
I believe that her maiden name was Locker and that she was from Minnesota.
He had an aunt (his mother's sister) that lived in Melville and Carrington
also. Her name was Mary Locker Blinsky Caron. I have found information
about her. I also believe that my dad had uncles living in the area.
William M and Edgar C Anthony. I have found nothing on them. Any
information on the family would be greatly appreciated. I would love to
find more, but have about run out of ideas. I would like to find if and
when Minnie died and is buried. Again, that you for any help you can offer.

I know he died young, but, do not have a date. His wife, Ruby remarried in l921 in New Rockford, N.D. This is the only time frame I have. I am also going to write to New Rockford, since I'm not sure where he died.
I'd like to have a death certificate or an obituary.
Thank you,

Hey there! I have seen the map of Foster county and found out
Carrington, Barlow, Bordulac, Melville 1895 because I am searching
Carl Christianson's descendants. He is my grandfather's youngest
brother and went to America 1902. The only thing about him is birth
23 Oct 1882 and death 15 Nov 1970 in Foster ND + those cities and
Dover,Haven, Rose Hill. I also know he was a farmer there. I have
researched for hours in different sites. Now I hope for you and
some tips how I can go on. Friendly Alf Kristiansson, Lund, Sweden.

Looking for information on Francis Pierce and Jane M. (Pettit). Found them living with son in law
in the 1910 census in Bucephalia Township, Foster County, North Dakota. Was trying to find
out if there is a cemetery for Bucephalia Township and what the name of it is. Looking to see
if they died in Bucephalia Township, and if so are they buried in a cemetery near there.
They were living with their son in law, Fernando Strouse and his wife Rachel E. (Pierce).
If anyone could please help me find them. Thank you.

I have a picture postcard with two very nice looking young ladies on the front. It is addressed to
Mrs. Sarah Hanson, Melville, Box 93, North Dakota. The writing is in either Swedish (probably),
Danish or German, I havent a clue. Sarah was my g grandmother and purportedly came from Brattmon,
Varmland, Sweden. I believe her name was Sigrid Olsen which she changed to Sarah Bratten after
coming to the US. She married Hans Christian Hanson. Is there someone out there who could take
a stab at translating this document for me?

I had known for sometime that one of my Taylor line, from Clarion Co., Pa., had gone to Foster Co.,
North Dakota. This is Robert E. Taylor b 1848 in Limestone twp., Clarion co., Pa. Married
Mary A. Pontius, b 1849 in Donegal twp., Butler Co., Pa. They only had 2 children that I know of,
one deceased before 1900. The other, Winfield J. Taylor b November 1880 in Pa. He married
about age 37, probably in Foster Co., ND., a lady who appears to be named "Rua O" in the
1930 census of Longview (Larrabee?) twp., Foster co., North Dakota. I was surprised and
pleased to find they had 5 children, Virginia M. Taylor b abt 1921, Joseph H. Taylor b 1921,
Betty J. Taylor, b abt 1924, Theodore, b abt 1926, Rua O., b abt 1928. I found in the SS records
that Joseph H. Taylor died October 10, 1998 in Carrington, Foster, ND. I would be delighted to
find any descendents of this family. Who did the daughters marry, the son's. I would like to
communicate with descendents. Will share lots of Taylor genealogy on this family, and some
Pontius. Thank you, Martha Breene, [email protected]

I am looking for information regarding my great great grandparents Carl and Margrita Westerlund
and their children. They farmed near Nordmore. They are both from Sweden and were married
there. They arrived in North Dakota (eventually Nordmore Township)
somewhere between 1885 and 1892 and lived there until they died in 1916 and 1944 respectively.
Before 1885 they lived in Otter Tail County, MN. I am particularly interested if anybody knows
where in Sweden they are from and who their parents are. I am
descended from their oldest daughter Caroline "Carrie" Westerlund.
Any information regarding her would be most helpful.

I would like somebody to help me identify a possible connection to the Kouf Family Tree. In a book, Cemeteries of Foster County, North Dakota, 1997, by George Barron, I have found on the internet a Katherine Kouf listed on page 80.
That is all that is mentioned.
Since I know that there were Koufs in both North and South Dakota, and if the name is not a mistake, this person would fit into my tree, I am just not sure who she is.
Would one of you please help me clarify who this person is?

August and Marie KOWALSKI or KOWELSKI lived in Birtsell, Barlow and Carrington from about 1883-1902. Their children were cared for by Foster County after Marie died in 1902. August went away. About 5 of the 7 children were sent to live or work with people in Foster County. The children were Robert, Fred, Lena, Helmus, Edith, Aaron and Katherine.
Perhaps your Foster County ancestors mentioned this unfortunate family in their journals or diaries.
