The Pleasant Hill School
......................................................................................................................................................................................
The above school was located on the southeast corner of Youngblood Road and McKee Road in lower Steele Creek near the river. It was built 1900 - 1905. The 1st floor was for grades 1-6 and the 2nd floor for grades 7-10, the highest grade that was taught at that time. In the mid to late1920s, the schools in Steele Creek were consolidated and a new Steele Creek School was built on York Road at Erwin Road. This was the end of one and two room schools and shortly after, was the beginning of busing in the community.
