I am at a brick wall in the research of my ancestry.  My GGG Grandfather Jacob MYERS was
born in Randolph County, North Carolina on 11 April 1827 and I was told he was a "bound boy".
I know nothing about bound boys. Is there anyway or where to look for birth records in Randolph County .
I have been looking to find his parents and I can't seem to come up with anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me, a direction to point me in, anything would help.

Surnames:  CASSADY

I’m looking for information on James CASSADY, born around 1808 in Randolph County
and died sometime between 1840 and 1850.   He was the son of John CASSADY(died sometime
around 1848-1851 in Randolph County and is supposedly buried in the Old Mt. Olivet
cemetery in Randolph County.

I’d like any information that anyone can give me on this family.   Also I’m told there is a
document entitled “
Randolph County North Carolina Court of Equity, September Term 1848,
in the case "William Cassady & others ex Parte", the following heirs of John Cassady
("That came to America from Ireland") are named. (A) Petition for settlement”.
If anyone could tell me how to obtain a copy of this document, I’d be very grateful.

Surnames:  ELLIOTT, BROWN, HOLTON, YOUNG, SPINKS, CANTLEY, ALLEN, HANCOCK

Searching for information on my 3rd great grandfather, John ELLIOTT.
He was born 1800-1805 in North Carolina, and died about 1841 in Randolph County.
He was married (Apr 1824 in Randolph County) to Losada BROWN (1800-1805 to Jan-Mar 1843),
daughter of Samuel BROWN, also of Randolph County.  There is a possibility that John's mother's
maiden name was HOOVER.

We believe that John may have had at least 3 sisters; Lucinda ELLIOTT HOLTON, wife of Alfred HOLTON,
Louisa ELLIOTT YOUNG, wife of Samuel YOUNG, and possibly Mary ELLIOTT YORK, wife of Braxton YORK.

John & Losada had 7 children, who were orphaned and lived with various family members with Losada's death.
They include Minerva Anne ELLIOTT HANCOCK, Samuel B. ELLIOTT, John R. ELLIOTT, James M. ELLIOTT,
Sarah Ann ELLIOTT ALLEN, Malsey Jane ELLIOTT SPINKS CANTLEY, and my 2nd great grandfather,
Zimri Franklin ELLIOTT.  All were born in Randolph County, North Carolina.

My gg-grandfather, William Sliter FRANKLIN, was sentenced around 1889 by the State to serve 4 years in prison for a crime in Burke Co., NC.  The family story is that he was paid rent by one of his tentants with hog meat that had been stolen. We believe he served time in a prison in Randolph Co. We have letters postmarked in Millboro.  We think he was later transferred to Sampson Co.  Is anyone aware of any prisons in Randolph Co. at that time?  There is a possibility he may have died while in prison with T.B. The name was changed from Saunders Hill to Ophir in the nineteenth century when a steel mill was built.  Ophir was a reference to the land of Ophir mentioned in the Bible as a place where King Solomon obtained gold.  I am looking for a connection to an Elias SMITHERMAN from around the Asheboro / High Pointe area between 1860-1880. He married Magnolia HOOVER in the 1870s, had three children and was gone by the 1880 census. He was said to be a mulatto that abandoned the family and was never heard from again. My now deceased great-aunt, urged me to find him (and thus where the SMITHERMAN name comes from) so I would appreciate any assistance. Thank You.

I am interested in the line of William DIFFEE (abt. 1707 - abt. 1790).  William's daughter Elizabeth DIFFEE (abt. 1735 - 2 Dec 1790) married in abt. 1752 Thomas ALLRED (abt. 1730 - May 1810).  Thomas ALLRED and Elizabeth DIFFEE had among their children William ALLRED born in abt. 1756.

I specifically am looking to see what vital records are available for each of these three individuals in Randolph County as well as proof that William DIFFEE was a patriot and fought for the Americans in the Revolutionary War.  It is believed that William Diffee served and it is unknown whether Thomas ALLRED or Wiliiam Allred served ini any capacity for the Americans.

Per the Allred Family Organization (www.allredfamily.com):  Elizabeth Diffee was not married to Thomas.  It has been documented that she was actually married to the William Allred who is believed to have been Thomas' brother.  William and Elizabeth's wills, estate records, and photos of their tombstones can all be viewed on the AFO web site at http://www.allredfamily.com/william.htm .  To our knowledge, no one has been able to document the maiden name of Thomas Allred's wife.  Per his will, we know her first name was Elizabeth, but that's all that has been documented about her. Information on Thomas, his brother William and his son, William, Revolutionary service can be viewed on the AFO web site at http://www.allredfamily.com/revolution.htm

Their names of their children, b. bet. 1797-1815 in Randolph Co.,  were: John, William, Margaret, Charles, Jr., Aaron (also the name of Elizabeth MOFFITT's brother), Henry, and Elizabeth Nancy.  I would like to hear from anyone with possible connections or knowledge of this family.  Thank you, Jo Banks

PS. Please be aware there were other Jacob ELLIOTTs living in the area during this period.  There was a Jacob ELLIOTT, Sr. & his son Jacob ELLIOTT, Jr. This Quaker family came from Pennsylvania.  I have determined that these ELLIOTTs lived along Polecat Creek and probably attended Quaker Meeting at Providence Meeting or possibly Centre Meeting.
