 (b. 7 Jun 1805, Randolph Co., NC) was the son of Samuel CLARK and Elizabeth (?), his wife.  Was Elizabeth the daughter of Lewis MORGAN ?  Lewis MORGAN ’s will was proved in court May 1802, but does not name all children.

He was born 14 Apr 1806 and died 26 Mar 1896; buried at Davis Chapel.  Claims on census to have been born in Maryland and Washington, DC.  Lived in Back Creek Twp.  Wife Elizabeth.

She was b. c. 1825 and d. between 1860 and 1865.  Married 8 Oct 1857 to Lewis HAYES  in Randolph Co., NC.  One son James Wesley HAYES , b. 1854.

Was not this the daughter of Joseph and Rachel (ALLRED) ALLRED  of the Mt. Pleasant Creek area in Randolph Co., NC?  There is an earlier article in the Journal about the mother of this Anna and her potential relationship to her husband called “No Leaf Unturned.”  You’ll find it in Vol. XXVI, No. 3 (Fall 2002).  At that time, we thought that James could not be her son because she was married to Lewis HAYES after he was born.  Or perhaps he was her son, but adopted by HAYES.                                   L.
