John Gouge was born about 1765 in Virginia and died between 1810 and 1820. Some researchers think he may have been the son of Thomas Gouge. John married Elizabeth Hoppes (about 1765 - 1850/60), who may have been the daughter of Adam Hoppes, a soldier in the Revolution.
