Need info on James Buchanan GAY (b. 1858, Pitt Co.) and Jennie Viola MARTIN (1868-1919, b. Pitt Co? d. Martin County). James Buchanan's parents possibly Reading GAY and Martha(nee?)GAY. Jennie MARTIN's parents were Ashley MARTIN (b 1843, Pitt Co.) and Caroline RAWLS, possibly half Native American.

Need info on: Maggie Dora GAY, born 1-25-1900 in Pitt County. She m. Samuel Hugh ELLIOTT in Perquimans County, 1919. Her parents were Buchanan GAY and Jennie Viola MARTIN (1868-1919, d. Martin County). Jennie MARTIN's parents were Ashley MARTIN (b 1843) and Caroline RAWLS, who was supposedly half Native American. Maggie GAY had siblings: George, Ida, Willis (Willie), John (m. Lona Manning), Lawrence, and Anna (m. Hardison). Buchanan's mother may have been named Martha (b. 1830).

I am interested in contacting descendants from Edward GRIFFIN who died 1754 Tyrrell Co, N.C. who married Grace______ He left a will that was written 27 Apr 1753 Tyrrell Co, N.C. naming the following: Wife Grace, sons Edward and William, daughters Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth COOPER and Anne " Youngest daughter". Does anyone know who his daughter Mary married ? I suspect it might be William ROSS, Jr. His father William ROSS, Sr and mother was Elizabeth ______. Was Elizabeth possibly a SMITHWICK ? Descendants went to Martin Co, N.C. Any help would be appreciated.

I need any info on the name GURGANUS, Joseph from Pitt county NC. John had a son named Joseph but in the records he was Fate which was a nickname that even was in the census reports. Joseph(Fate) was born in l908 in Pitt County NC and died in l971 in Williamston, NC. Martin County. I would like to find out what country they came from when they enterred the US.

My ancestors John MCCASKEY and wife Mary HART moved to Clarke Co., AL in c1810 from Martin Co., NC. Sometimes later James Garlington MCCASKEY moved to the same area also from Martin Co. It is suspected (but not proved) that James was the son of Bernard MCCASKEY. These two MCCASKEY families lived in the same immediate area for a while but no kinship is known. I would appreciate any help in connecting these to MCCASKEY families and connecting them to their Martin Co., NC roots. Also any help ;with the HART family of Martin Co. would also be appreciated.

They had children: Laurence Llewellyn, Temperence, Kennith, John, Alamanda, Charles, Arie, Louise, Lou Erie, William, Paul. In a letter written by John's dauther-in-law, she says that John's father died when he was 6 or 8 years old and that his mother married a second time to a man named HINDS.(maybe HINES) She had several children by the second marriage.
