1852 Johnston County Freemasons

The following is another list of Freemasons in Johnston County. This one
is for the year 1852, and it includes two lodges in Johnston County, one
in Smithfield and the other at Mill Creek-Bentonville. The list is taken
from the "Proceedings of the Grand Lodge, Ancient York Masons of North
Carolina, A.L. 5851, 1852," available at the North Carolina Collection in
Chapel Hill. I find these lists useful as a census substitute. I also
find that many times several brothers, or a father and sons will belong
to a lodge.
