Transylvania County Genealogy List

TransylvanCoGenList
Transylvania County, North Carolina's on-line genealogy group

Transylvania County has one of the most unique research resources in the state. The county's on-line genealogy resource, TransylvanCoGenList, was founded in January, 2000 and has consistently shattered records for genealogy e-mail list productivity and success. Since the founding in early 2000 and as of early March 2003, almost 53,000 items have been added to the group's archives, stored on the members only website and available through an easy to use search.
Over 200 researchers of western North Carolina families belong to the group and work together closely and actively in a structured research community using a unique approach to sharing knowledge that surpasses all other approaches for success and productivity. Researchers of all skill levels, from brand new genealogists to seasoned old pros, work together in ease and comfort, each helping the other in any way possible. Through the group's approach, the term "shared knowledge" has taken on new meaning. Even though the main focus of the group is Transylvania County, research discussions spill over into surrounding counties as well.
Many Transylvania County families have strong ties to Haywood County, and vice versa. A great number of the families represented in TransylvanCoGenList are found in Haywood County. All families of Transylvania County and surrounding counties are widely represented within the membership. More than a dozen Haywood County researchers belong to the group already.Over 600 early families are represented in the group.
All researchers of Transylvania County families, as well as families in neighboring counties and states with ties to Transylvania County are invited to join the group. Membership is free, but offers priceless benefits.
