I have done tremendous amount of research on the Wood line but so far have not established father of Robert Wood beyond a reasonable doubt. My Grandmother was born in 1895 in Maggie Valley, NC. Her name was MARGARET SHELTON. Her mother name was Cordelia and father TOM SHELTON. Cordelia's mother and father were FRANK TIEG and JANIE BROOK. My Grandmother passed away in 1990. She raised me as an American Indian, Cherokee, of the deer clan. My Great Great Grandfather was WILLIAM M. ROBISON. Spelling could be Rob(i,in,er,e,ert)son. I have found it spelled phonetically many times. William M lived in Jackson County at the time of the 1860 census, and he was 32 years old. He was married to ELIZABETH FISHER. In 1862 he joined the 62nd N.C. Infantry Co.H. He died as a P.O.W. after being captured at Cumberland Gap. There is an ISRAEL ROBESON on the Haywood County census index from 1850. I'm trying to find out if this was his father. My William M was born (I think) in 1828. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for Information On JOHN GILBERT JONES. Sources have led me to believe that he was living in Haywood county in 1850. He was born in 1821. He had a wife named Maria (or Mary)H. ASHE. He moved to Jackson County by 1860 and enlisted in the Confederacy to fight in the Civil War. He attained the rank of captain as a conscript officer. He was attached to Company "H", 10th Regiment-Artillery. After the war, he moved to Arkansas and died there in Praire County on Feb 25, 1915. If anyone has any information on this man, his wife, or his ancestors, please let me know.

I am searching for family of LAURA MESSER who married ROBERT LEE PARTON. She was dead by 1921 (the year of my fathers birth). He stated that he never knew her. Laura born probably in 1870's. Census says born in NC. LAURA PARTON MESSER was a midwife on Hemphill. She is buried on Hemphill in an unmarked grave along side 1 child and her husband. McINTYRE, McGUNESS

I am trying to find anything I can out about my Great-Grandfather ZACHARY McINTYRE b.c 1846. I know from his Civil War Discharge that he was born in Haywood County, NC. He walked to Mt Vernon, KY and joined the Union Army in 1864. Along the way he went to Virginia and met a girl that was 13 years old and told her that after the war he would be back and married her, he did. Her name was LOUISA McGUNESS. That's about all I know. My husbands ggg granfather possibly was born in Haywood County in 1831. We know he was married in 1857 to VIOLET CAMPBELL in Haywood County. His name was WILLIAM N. MAHAFFEY. He went by the name Billy. He and Violet left the county and moved to Georgia. They had a son JETHRO HICKS MAHAFFEY in 1858 while living in Georgia. All three of these people, plus Jethro's wife are buried at the Philadelphia Baptist Church cemetery in Young Cane, Georgia. James Allen HARRIS. I am researching information about James Allen HARRIS my Great Grandfather. He was born in NC in 1865. I am unsure of the exact county. He used to relate a story to his children and grandchildren that he came down off White Rock mountain and came to Tennessee when he was 17 years old. My mother says she remembers family from North Carolina visiting when she was young by the name of CARVER. If anyone is researching this HARRIS family I would appreciate hearing from you. SAWYER. Sarah and William went to Kansas in 1875-76 and settled in Osborne Co.. Nancy stayed in N. Car. and lived in Swain County. I am looking for the first name of their father, and for Jane's maiden name. Jane was born ca. 1806 in Haywood County and died after 1880 as she is in the census for that year. Jane married Lewis Medlin ca. 1840-1841 according to Margaret Freel in her book OUR HERITAGE. Lewis Medlin her second husband was b. Dec. 11, 1818 in S. Car. and d. on Nov. 2, 1909. He is buried at Panther Creek Cem. in Graham Co. There is a possibility that Jane lived near Whitter in Haywood County. This based on information on Nancy Welch Sawyer's death certificate. I would love to share information with anyone interested in any of the above name families. The families I am researching from N. Car. are LOVIN(G), CRISP, WELCH, JENKINS, SAWYERS, SUMPTER, and MEDLIN.

Need parents of WILLIAM GREEN, born February 6, 1762 in Prince Edward county, Virginia, and died in Haywood county, North Carolina on March 2, 1837. William Green married KEZZIAH PATTON in Orange county, NC in 1781 during the American Revolution. William Green was a prisioner of war when General Lincoln surrendered the Southern Continental Army at Charleston, South Carolina. William and Kezziah Patton Green moved to Burke county, NC in about 1785 and later moved to Haywood county, NC about 1815, where William Green apparently lived until his death. Kezziah Green apparently went to Georgia about 1830 with her two sons, Anderson and William Green, born about 1786 in Burke county, NC. William Green (2) was my gg-grandfather, and he married Nancy Porter in Burke county, NC in about 1811. Both are buried in Carroll county, Georgia, along with Kezziah Patton Green.
