MARBLE

James William Caldwell, 79, of Marble, died unexpectedly Thursday morning in his home.
He was a native of Haywood County, a resident of Marble for several years, a member of Marble Springs Baptist Church and was a farmer.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Sallie Teague Caldwell; two sons, Wayne of Whittier and Hiram Caldwell of Waynesville; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Battle of Marble; a brother, Eldridge Caldwell of Waynesville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Whittier Methodist Church.
The Rev. Thad Dowdle and the Rev. V. N. Allen will officiate and burial will be in Swain Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Wilson Caldwell, Hiram Campbell, Horace Howell, Jim Hughes, Wayne Edwards, and John Childers.
The body will remain in Bill Moody Funeral Home until placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to services.



**James William Caldwell was born in the Cataloochee Valley of Haywood County, NC.
**His parents were Hiram Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Howell Caldwell.
**January 27, 1906, he married Sallie Teague and had the following children: Silas Wayne, William Hiram, and Mary Ruby Caldwell.
