David R. Rogers

David R. Rogers

Hello,

I have been doing some family tree research over the past several months.
Right now I am having difficulties connecting my great-great-great grandfather (David R. Rogers of Murphy, NC) to Hugh Rogers of Cherekee County, NC (possibly the son of revolutionary war soldier, Hugh Rogers).
Do you have any information that may help me with my research?
Anything you could provide would be much appreciated!

David R Rogers (my great-great-great grandfather)
Born Feb. 28 1828 in Murphy, NC (Cherokee County)
- moved to Arkansas 1854-1862
- married Harriett Russell 1856
- returned to family farm in 1862 to fight in the Civil War
- moved to Waco, TX in 1870
- moved to Marlow OK
Died Nov. 17 1915 in Marlow, OK (buried at Marlow Cemetery, OK)

Obituary for David R. Rogers in Marlow, OK stating he was born Feb. 26 1828 in Murphy, NC.
Also I have several census reports stating he was born in North Carolina.

1850 US Census for Cherokee County, NC stating that David Rogers is 22 years old meaning he would probably have been born in 1828 which matches the above information.
If this is correct, it states his father is Hugh W. Rogers and that he is 49 years old meaning he would probably have been born in 1801.

This tombstone of Hugh (Revolutionary War Soldier) and Nancy Rogers show they had a son named Hugh Rogers Jr born in 1801.
It is my understanding Hugh and Nancy Rogers moved to Haywood County, NC in 1800.

Thank you,
