    SNOW CAMP - Jerry Williams Brooks, 54, of 7811 Snow Camp Road died Saturday at Alamance County Hospital.
    Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. Burial will be in Rock Creek United Methodist Church cemetery.
    A native of Charlotte, he was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He owned and operated Brooks Grocery Store and was an Army veteran.     Surviving are wife, Mrs. Ana Merle Culberson Brooks; daughter, Mrs. Nora Darlene Brooks of Graham; sons, William Jay Brooks of the home, Daniel Kent Brooks of Burlington, Darrell Lynn Brooks of Alamance, Dwayne Lee Brooks of Haw River; father, William Taft Brooks of Mebane; brothers, Ronald Keith Brooks of Mebane, John Fredrick Brooks of Burlington; nine grandchildren.
    The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today, other times at the residence.

John Robert Coble
    GRAHAM - Mr. John Robert Coble, 37, of 6624 Lake Hill Dr., Raleigh, died Monday, July 15, 1996, at 1:15 a.m. at Duke University Medical Center after six months failing health.
    The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate.
    Mr. Coble was a native of Guilford County, the son of Ralph P. Coble, Jr. and Mildred Bradshaw Coble. He was a mechanical engineer and project manager for Edwards, Inc. of Spring Hope. He was a member of the North Carolina Society of Engineers, and a graduate of N.C. State University.
    He is survived by his daughters, Miss Samantha Coble and Miss Rebecca Coble, both of Raleigh; stepson, Mr. Raymond Coble of Raleigh; parents, Mr. Ralph P. Coble and Mrs. Mildred B. Coble of Liberty; brother, Mr. Ralph P. Coble, III of Wilmington.
    The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.

    SNOW CAMP Mrs. Allene McPherson Faulkner, 87, of 6760 Coble Mill Rd., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 ,2003, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Jerry Bryant and Rev. Alvin M. Horne.
    She was born in Alamance County, the daughter of the late H. Clay McPherson and the late Essie Williams McPherson. She was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Franklin Faulkner.
    She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Donna F. Culbreth and husband, Wally, of Greensboro; sons, Mr. Glenwood Faulkner and wife, Vicky of Snow Camp, Mr. Bobby Faulkner and wife, Betty, of Winston-Salem and Mr. Harold Faulkner and wife, Sara, of Thomasville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Wilma M. Thompson of Kernersville; brother, Mr. F. C. McPherson of Snow Camp.
    The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday and other times they will be at the residence. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Lawrence F. Faulkner
    SNOW CAMP - Mr. Lawrence F. Faulkner, 81, of 6760 Coble Mill Rd., died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nancy Sturdivant, Pastor of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and the Rev. Alvin Horne, Pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a native of Alamance County, the son of the late Willie George Faulkner and the late Roxie Long Faulkner. He was a retired foreman of Liberty Hosiery Mill. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for several years, and a was a member of the United Methodist Men.
    Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Allene M. Faulkner of the home; daughter, Mrs. Wally (Donna) F. Culbreth of Greensboro; sons, Mr. Glenwood Faulkner and wife, Vicky of Snow Camp, Mr. Bobby Faulkner and wife, Betty of Winston-Salem, and Mr. Harold Faulkner and wife, Sara of Thomasville; sisters, Mrs. Violet Albright of Burlington, Mrs. Ava Taylor of Graham, and Mrs. Yvonne Lassiter of Burlington; brothers, Mr. Donald Faulkner, Mr. Elmo Faulkner, and Mr. H. W. Faulkner all of Burlington, Mr. Earl Faulkner of Graham and Mr. Dace Faulkner of Haw River; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Lillian Carey.

Mrs. Mabel Thompson Graves
    GRAHAM — Mrs. Mabel Thompson Graves, 86, of The Hawfields Presbyterian Home died at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. She was a former resident of 6940 Mount Hermon-Rock Creek Road, Snow Camp.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Howard Woods Graves and the daughter of Mr. Harrison Thompson and Mrs. Elsie Allen Thompson, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Miss Myra Lynn Graves of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Opal Isley and Mrs. Cora Gibson, both of Snow Camp, Mrs. Betty Pollock of Woodstown, N.J., and Mrs. Joanna Erwin of Burlington; and a brother, Mr. Russell K. Thompson of Graham.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Scottie Hal Graves; and two sisters, Mrs. Christine McPherson and Mrs. Louise Stout.
    A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Nancy Sturdivant.
    The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening.

Mr. Robert D. Hill
    SNOW CAMP — Mr. Robert D. Hill, 84, of 2382 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road died at 3:50 PM Saturday at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
    A native of Rutherford County, NC, he was the husband of the late Virginia Hornaday Hill and son of the late Robert Martin and Lucy Callahan Hill. Mr. Hill retired from the Alamance Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. after 30 years service, was substitute postmaster in Snow Camp for 21 years and a farmer. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, choir director and Sunday School teacher. He was former chairman of the school boards of Sylvan Elementary School and Southern Alamance High School, president of the PTA, charter member of the Sylvan Ruritan, district governor of Ruritan and served on the Hammer Board of Sylvan School and was a charter member of the Sword of Peace. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII.
    Survivors include 3 daughters, Ms. Martha C. Hill of Burlington, Mrs. Lucy H. Wilson and her husband Steve of China Grove and Mrs. Sallie H. Wallace and her husband Danny of Sanford; 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey W. Tingen, Lonnie B. Tingen Jr., Robert Paul Wilson, Steven Mark Wilson, Virginia D. Wallace, Elizabeth A. Wallace, Thomas C. Wallace and Daniel L. Wallace II; 1 great-grandchild, Megan Nicole Wilson; 1 brother, Dr. Ronald C. Hill of Greensboro; 1 sister, Mrs. Marjorie H. Hill of High Point. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 7 siblings, G. Maurice Hill, Larry Joe Hill, Ethel H. Arnold, Flora H. Wright, Ora Lee H. Drawdy, Evelyn H. Pollock and B. Ernest Hill.
    Funeral services will be held at Rock Creek United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2002 by Rev. Steve Wilson and Rev. Danny Wallace, Mr. Hill’s sons-in-law. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Members of the Sylvan Ruritan Club and the Hammer Board of Sylvan School are asked to sit as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Hill will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Monday and at other times at the residence.

    SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Virginia Hornaday Hill, 76, of 2382 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road died at 2:24 a.m. Friday, January 5, 1996, at her home after a brief illness.
    Born in Alamance County to the late Roy Zelle and Georgia Isley Hornaday Sr., she was a former employee of Burlington Industries and a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
    Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 1996, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. George Johnson, district superintendent of the United Methodist Conference, and the Rev. Ervin Houser, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Surviving are husband, Robert D. Hill of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Tingen of Graham, Mrs. Lucy Wilson of Roanoke Rapids, and Mrs. Sallie Wallace of Sanford; one sister, Mrs. Rachel H. Hinshaw of Macon, Ga.; one brother, Roy Z. Hornaday Jr. of Sunset Beach; eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Emily H. Wright and Mrs. Dorothy H. Wilkins.

Flavius Durant Hornaday
    SNOW CAMP -- Final rites will be held tomorrow afternoon for Flavius Durant Hornaday, Sr., 78, prominent church and business leader of this area who died in a Burlington hospital yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
    Death came to Mr. Hornaday, a resident of Route 2, Snow Camp, after declining health for six months and four days of critical illness.
    The funeral will be held at Rock Creek Methodist Church, of which he was a member, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, with burial in the church cemetery.
    The body will remain at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington and will be removed to the church to lie in state tomorrow from 3:30 until 4 o'clock.
    Mr. Hornaday was a native of Alamance county, the son of the late Oliver Newton Hornaday and Mrs. Eleanor Elizabeth Foust Hornaday.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nannie McPherson Hornaday, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Aubrey Graham of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Lewis Riggs of Mebane and Mrs. Staley P. Gordon of Burlington; two sons, F. D., Jr. of Burlington and Snow Camp, and Russell of Snow Camp; three brothers, J. A. Hornaday of Asheville, Dr. W. A. Hornaday of Greensboro, and R. Z Hornaday of Snow Camp; one sister, Miss Inez Hornaday of Norfolk, Va., and Eight grandchildren.
    Mr. Hornaday devoted most of his attention to Hornaday Meat Company, of which he was owner and operator and which he founded in 1923.
    His other interests and activities, however, were varied and were extensive.
    In the Rock Creek Church, he served as a trustee for a number of years and was teacher of the Men's Bible Class for the past 40 years.
    Also, he was a president of Fidelity Hosiery Mills, Inc., of Burlington, president of the Alamance Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Graham, past president of the Bank of Liberty, and director and one of the founders of Liberty Building and Loan Association, and was a member of the Alamance Executives Club of Burlington.
    He was an extensive farmer and cattle raiser, being the owner of a number of farms in the Snow Camp area.
    Mr. Hornaday also was a life long Republican and for many years was looked to as one of the leaders of the Alamance County Republican Party.
    He was educated at Oakdale Academy and at Liberty Normal College.
    Retiring and modest by nature, he preferred to remain anonymous in most of the interests that he held involving generous gifts and donations that centered primarily in religious and educational circles and among acquaintances who went to him for advice and assistance.
    Mr. Hornaday also maintained a strong interest in sports through out his life.

    SNOW CAMP -- Final rites for Mrs. Georgia Isley Hornaday, 60, of Snow Camp, who died Friday, were held at Rock Creek Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
    Rev. Bill Sewell, a former pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. U. Fogleman, a Congregational Christian minister of Burlington.
    Music was by the church choir, John Amick, soloist, and Mrs. John Amick, pianist. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Louise Thomas Hornaday, and the son of the late Flavius Durant Hornaday and Nancy McPherson Hornaday. He was the retired owner of the Hornaday Abattoir and was a lifelong member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church. 
    Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Blue Mangum Hornaday of Snow Camp; three nephews, Mr. F. D. Hornaday III of Burlington, Mr. David S. Hornaday of Snow Camp, and Mr. Aubrey G. Graham Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five nieces, Mrs. Susan Gordon Lewis of Charleston, S.C., Miss Martha Graham of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Julia Hornaday Lerner of New York, N.Y., Mrs. Rebecca Hornaday Schneider of Dallas, and Mrs. Janet Hornaday Rogers of Halifax, Va.

    SNOW CAMP — Mr. Charlie Grady “Bill” Ingold, 80, of 3197 Old Ingold Trail, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at White Oak Manor Nursing Center in Burlington after two months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. James Beecher Ingold and Mrs. Lois Shatterly Ingold Lucas, both deceased. He was a retired hosiery mill employee and was a farmer. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Sandra) Collins and Mrs. Billie Nold, both of Snow Camp; a son, Mr. Johnny Wayne Ingold of Snow Camp; three sisters, Mrs. Elvada McPherson of Snow Camp, Mrs. Ruthie Wood and Mrs. Nellie “Pete” Capps, both of Graham; a brother, Mr. Lewis Beecher Ingold of Snow Camp; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

    SNOW CAMP -- Mrs. Anna Katherine Ammons Luther, 62, of 2133 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, formerly of Cumberland County, died Tuesday in Durham Regional Medical Center.
    Mrs. Luther was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Downtown Farmers Market and a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and the Chair of the Evangelism Committee.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Revs. Don Gum and Dave McHale. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McClure Funeral Home of Graham.
    Mrs. Luther is survived by her husband, Charles C. Luther of the home; a son, Robert C. Luther of Lexington; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Van Kerkwyk of Phoenix; three sisters, Dorothy Harris of Oldtown, Fla., Mildred I. Wright of Tempe, Ariz., and Sue Annette Szczerba of Dade City, Fla.; a half sister, Rene Myers of Georgia; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Anna Katherine Ammons Luther
    GRAHAM — Mrs. Anna Katherine Ammons Luther, 62, of 2133 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Snow Camp, died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Durham Regional Medical Center.
    A native of Cumberland County, she was the wife of Charles C. Luther, who survives, and the daughter of the late Lloyd Ammons and Wilma Rowles Ammons. She was a homemaker and was very active in her community as a volunteer. She was also a charter member of the Downtown Farmers Market. She was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, Chair of the Evangelism Committee, and was active in the youth group.
    Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Van Kerkwyk of Phoenix; a son, Robert C. Luther of Lexington; three grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Harris of Old Town, Fla., Mildred Irene Wright of Tempe, Ariz., and Sue Annette Szczerba of Dade City, Fla.; and a half sister, Rene Myers of Georgia.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Charles C. Luther III.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Don Gum, and the Rev. Dave McHale. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Sylvan Ruritan Club will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

    SNOW CAMP -- Final rites for Joseph Frederick Patterson, 17, of Rt. 2, Snow Camp, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St Luke Methodist Church in Asheboro.
    He died Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. in a Chapel Hill hospital following a short illness.
    A native of Randolph County, he was the son of Joe C. Patterson of Randleman, and Mrs. Ruth Leadwell Siler of Seagrove, and was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church in Methodist Church in Asheboro. He was employed by Liberty Chair Factory and was a student at Southern High School in Graham.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Azell Oliver and Kenneth D. Patterson, both of Seagrove; sisters, Jo Scilla and Cherye Germain Patterson, both of Seagrove; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Cora Patterson, Snow Camp; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Essie Drake, Rockville Center, N. Y.; maternal grandfather, Derotha Baldwin, Asheboro; and great grandmother, Mrs. Florence Staley, Asheboro.
    The Rev. Brown, pastor of the church will officiate, assisted by the Rev. M. T. McCleave. Burial will be in Rock Creek Church cemetery.
    The body will remain at Hargett and Bennett Funeral Home in Asheboro until taken to the church one hour prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

    SNOW CAMP — Joseph W. “Joe” McPherson, 85, of 7322 Bass Mountain Road, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the residence of his daughter, Foy, after one week of failing health.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sarah Johnson McPherson, who survives, and the son of the late Fred W. McPherson and Emma Hobson McPherson. He was a farmer and was a member of the Rock Creek United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday school class.
    He was a board member of the Alamance County Farm Bureau and was a delegate to the North Carolina Farm Bureau Convention. He was a member of the Sylvan Ruritan Club with 41 years of perfect attendance. He was also a member of the Alamance County Cattlemen’s Association, and was a vender at the Greensboro Farmer’s Curb Market. He was a retired volunteer firefighter with the Snow Camp Fire Department.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Foy M. Johnson and her husband, Keith of Snow Camp and Ms. Lois M. McPherson of Manassas, Va.; two sons, Mr. William J. McPherson of the home and Mr. Ward Byron McPherson, surviving aboard the USS Shreveport in the Arabian Sea; a sister, Mrs. Doris Greeson of Snow Camp; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Macie Turner; and two brothers, J. Van McPherson and Hoyt McPherson.

    BURLINGTON - Mr. Sidney L. McPherson, 82, of 2413 Blanche Drive, Burlington, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.
    A native of Alamance County, Mr. McPherson was the husband of 59 years to Ila Jo Rich McPherson, and son of the late Richard Wade McPherson and Elsie Boggs McPherson. He was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. Mr. McPherson retired as manager of Big Star Grocery Store with 43 years service and worked part time at Harris Teeter for 15 years.
    Surviving other than his wife of the home are two sons, Mr. Sidney Keith McPherson and wife, Pat of Rome, Ga., and Mr. Joe Wade McPherson and wife, Celeste, of Snow Camp; four granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and a brother, Mr. Harold Wade McPherson and wife, Peggy, of Snow Camp.

He was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church where was a Lay Speaker, active in the Methodist Men’s Club, and very active in numerous church activities. He was a member of the Snow Camp Ruritan Club and served on the Sylvan and Southern School Boards for many years.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Billy (Dorothy) Corbett of Burlington and Ms. Martha Jean Nicholson of Snow Camp; a son, Mr. Paul Ray Moon of Elon; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kenyon and Mrs. Anna Lois Collins, both of Liberty; three brothers, Mr. Dacie E.     LIBERTY -- Leonard Smith Russell, 63, of Rt. 2, Snow Camp, died Tuesday at his residence.
    A native of Iowa, he was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Sylvan Ruritan Club.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Spoon Russell of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Mary R. Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Murray Sipe
    SNOW CAMP — Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Murray Sipe, 79, of 7374 N.C. 49 South, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Duke University Medical Center.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Paul Eugene Sipe Sr. and the daughter of the late Jacob “JC” Clarence Murray and Maude Erma Fogleman Murray, who survives. She was a homemaker and was formerly employed by Bell’s Department Store, Byrd’s Food Store and Hardee’s on Alamance Road. She was a volunteer for the health room at E. M. Holt Elementary School and a personal nannie for Brandon Bell during his childhood. She was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church and a former member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Snow Camp Garden Club.
    Survivors other than her mother of Snow Camp include four daughters, Ms. Sandra Cheek and Ms. Hilda Stutts, both of Snow Camp, Mrs. Glenda Smith of Graham, and Miss Susan Sipe of the home; three sons, Buddy Sipe of Burlington, Bobby and wife Beth Sipe of Liberty, and Billy and wife Paige Sipe of Elon; a sister, Mrs. Nan Bremerman of Jacksonville; and 10 grandchildren, Kim, Jacob, Denise, Elizabeth, Justin, Caroline, Holly, Will, Sarah and Zachary.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Donald Gum and the Rev. Alvin Horne. Burial will be in Rock Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. in Burlington. Mrs. Sipe will remain at the funeral home until being placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Mr. Edward Earl Sledge Sr.
    SNOW CAMP — Mr. Edward “Ed” Earl Sledge Sr., 64, of 8656 Pleasant Hill Church Road, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Chatham Hospital in Siler City after a sudden illness.
    A native of Roanoke, Ala., he was the husband of Mrs. Carol Lee Sledge, who survives, and the son of Mr. L. K. Sledge and Mrs. Mary Evelyn Faulkner Sledge, both deceased. He was retired after 33 years with the F. W. Woolworth Company, where he held positions of district manager and manager. He had worked for Rose Discount Warehouse for the past five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was on active duty for four years and two years with the Marine Corps Reserves. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He participated in the Lebanese crisis as part of a military police unit. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church, where he formerly served as Sunday school superintendent and was assistant Sunday school superintendent. He was a Sunday school teacher for the Friendship Class. He was a lay leader of the church.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Miss Adrian Carole Sledge of High Point; three sons, Mr. Edward Earl Sledge Jr. of Hillsborough and Mr. David Frank Sledge and Mr. Richard Myrle Sledge, both of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Calvin R. Sledge of Roanoke, Ala.; and a grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by five brothers, Mr. Laurine Kline Sledge, Mr. Harold Sledge, Mr. Bobby Gene Sledge, Mr. Cecil Sledge and Mr. Jerry Lee Sledge.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nancy Sturdivant, pastor, and the Rev. David McHale, former pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    SNOW CAMP — Anna Laura McPherson Smith, 82, of 6910 Beale Road, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at her residence after two months of failing health.  A native of Alamance County, she was a retired beautician and a lifetime member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church .
    Survivors include a brother, Boyd Lynn McPherson of Snow Camp, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Smith; her parents, Henry Dewitt McPherson and Hattie Rawnsley McPherson; two sisters, Josie McPherson and Rachel Brintle; and four brothers, Raymond McPherson, Jack McPherson, Donald McPherson, and William McPherson.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Jeffries. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    SNOW CAMP -- James Luther (Jim) Spoon, 86, of Rt. 2, Snow Camp died Tuesday afternoon in an area nursing home following several years of declining health and six weeks of critical illness.
    A native of Alamance County, Mr. Spoon was a farmer and merchant of the Snow Camp - Kimesville area. He owned and operated Spoon's Nursery for over 50 years.
    Also, Mr. Spoon owned the J. L. Spoon Chair Manufacturing Co. on the Liberty highway.
    He was the husband of Mrs. Sallie Curtis Spoon of the home, who survives, and the son of the late Alfred Taylor and Mary Garrett Spoon.
    Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Russell of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; one son, W. C. Spoon of Altamahaw; one sister, Mrs. Callie Smith of Rt. 3, Liberty; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Final rites will be at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, of which Mr. Spoon was a member. Conducting the service will be the Rev. Lloyd McClelland, pastor, assisted by the Rev. George W. Johnson, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church and the Rev. David M. Lewis, pastor of Fairview United Methodist Church.
    The body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.

    Born in Randolph County to the late Albert Lacy Thompson and late Julia Jobe Thompson, he was a self employed carpenter for 50 years and retired from Burlington Industries Pioneer Plant after 18 years of service. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church.
    Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. David McHale, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    SNOW CAMP — Terry Lee Ward, 46, of 7955 Bethel-South Fork Road, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of two days.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Robin Radford Ward, who survives, and the son of the late Louis and Myrtle Strader Ward. He was a parts manager for Auto Zone and was a member of the Snow Camp Fire Department for 11 years.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Amanda Leigh Ward and Ashley Bishop Ward, both of the home.
    The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Walter Jones, pastor of Altamahaw Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rock Creek United Methodist Church cemetery.

Don T. Wilson
    SNOW CAMP— Don T. Wilson, 71, of 7026-F. NC 49 S., slipped peacefully away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 30, 2005.
    A native of Lexington, NC he was the son of the late George Wilson and the late Beulah Tetter Wilson and was married to Mrs. Peggie Hedrick Wilson, who survives. He graduated from Linwood High School in Lexington and attended NC State University for training in textiles. After finishing school he worked for Kayser Roth and later he helped open mills in Kinston, NC and Cheraw, SC. He retired from Macfield Texturing and Interstate Concrete. Don was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church , where he was a lay leader, past teacher of the Young Adult Class, and coach of the men’s softball team during the 1970’s. He loved farming, his cows and feeding wild Canadian Geese that lived on his farm.
    Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters Teena Faucette and her husband, Steve, of Snow Camp and Angie Payne and her husband, Jimmy, of Snow Camp; four grandchildren, Steven Faucette, Brandon Faucette, J.D. Payne, and Jessica Payne; two brothers, Charles Wilson and his wife, Hilda, of Spanish Fork, UT and Bill Wilson and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington; special friends, Ashley Mansfield and Amanda Braun; and his family pets, Shady, Bandit, and Sammy who comforted him during his last years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Fisher and Sarah Rogers; and a brother, Herbert Wilson.
    The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carson Wiggins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his daughter, Teena, 7026-A. NC 49 S., Snow Camp.
