Mr. James L. “Jim” Albright
    BURLINGTON — Mr. James L. “Jim” Albright, 95, of 3212 Maple Ave., died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Alamance Health Care.
    A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Ione Capps Albright, and the son of the late Minter Albright and the late Ethel Neese Albright. He was a retired auto mechanic, and a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elva Albright Butler and her husband, Darryl, of Burlington; grandchildren, David Lynn Butler of Burlington and Patti Ann Honeycutt and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte; a great-grandchild, Jason Adam Mills; and two brothers, George Albright and Clarence “Cotton” Albright, both of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by a son, James Donald Albright; a sister, Mrs. Irene A. Long; and five brothers, Ned Albright, Sam Albright, Earl Albright, Will Albright and Snook Albright.
    The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Roberts and the Rev. R. E. L. Moser. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church cemetery.
    The family will receive visitors at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Darryl Butler, 3170 Maple Ave., Burlington.

Richard Rogers "Rick" Barbee, Sr.
    EFLAND — Mr. Richard Rogers "Rick" Barbee Sr., 69, of 5617 Buckhorn Road, Efland, died at UNC Hospitals Tuesday, July 12, 2005, after an illness of three weeks.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Rebecca Mitchell Barbee, and the son of James Howard Barbee and Maybelle Hill Barbee, both deceased. Mr. Barbee graduated from Williams High School and attended Elon College and N.C. State University. He was retired from AT&T/Lucent Technologies, where he worked for 40 years. An active member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church, he participated in a men’s Bible study, small group, and several volunteer ministries.
    In addition to his wife of 46 years, survivors include two sons, Mr. Rick Barbee Jr. and wife, Kerrianne, of Aliso Viejo, California and Mr. Jim Barbee and wife, Laura, of Boone; two daughters, Mrs. Sandy Cain and husband, Woody, of Concord and Mrs. Kathy Taylor and husband, Jeff, of Lucas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Jackson, Anne, and Mitchell Barbee, of Boone, and Zoe, Sean, Isaac, and Eli Taylor of Lucas.
    Mr. Barbee loved God, his church, spending time with family and friends, working around his yard, and playing with his grandchildren — who knew him as "Dan-dan." Among his favorite pastimes were bowling and playing cards. Mr. Barbee bowled a perfect game after his retirement.
    The funeral will be conducted in the Old Sanctuary at St. Mark’s Church on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Bob Disher, and the Rev. Ben Bishop. Burial will follow the service in Bellemont UMC cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
    The family would like to thank the CT-ICU staff at UNC Hospitals for their compassionate care and kindness during Mr. Barbee’s illness.

    HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Susan Gail Johnson Brooks, 51, of 3900 Dairyland Road, Lot 6, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, after four months of failing health.
    A native of Alamance County, she was a self-employed medical transcriptionist. Her father, William Joseph Johnson, preceded her in death.
    She is survived by her husband, Gregory Brooks, of the home; daughter, Erika Kridel and fiancée, Mel Abbott, of Durham; mother, Joyce Talbert Coble, of Burlington; sister, Janet Redding and husband, Joe, of Haw River; niece, Alice Johnson, of Haw River; stepdaughter, Tahra Jolene Cessna and husband, Tim, of Florida; stepson, Justin Kyle Brooks, of Florida; aunt, Esther Hicks, of Durham; and uncle, Roger Talbert, of Burlington.
    Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery.

    BURLINGTON - Mrs. Alma Mae Hargis Brown, 83, of 1949 Bellemont-Alamance Road died Friday, March 15, 1996, at her residence.
    Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Bellemont United Methodist Church by Rev. Al Trotter, Pastor, Bellemont United Methodist Church and Rev. R. E. L. Moser, retired United Methodist Church Minister. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery.
    Born in Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Burrell H. Hargis and the late Cora Sharpe Hargis and wife of the late D. Reid Brown, who died 9/27/77. She was retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery, a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women and the Clarice Pickett Sunday School Class.
    Survivors include sister, Mrs. Marie H. Holt of Burlington; brother, Mr. Homer S. Hargis of Burlington; nieces and nephews.

    D. Reid Brown, 65, of Rt. 6, Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, died early today at his residence after six months of illness.
    A native of Edgecombe County, he was a son of the late Daniel Reid and Frances Brown, and the husband of Alma Mae Hargis Brown, who survives at home. He was retired from Kayser-Roth, where he was quality control supervisor. He was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, and teacher of the young adult Sunday School class there. He was also a member of the Toastmasters Club.
    The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. R. E. L. Moser and the Rev. Hoyt Cheek. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Survivors, other than the widow, include a brother, I. Newton Brown of Rt. 1, Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Helen B. Coble of Alamance; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Other times, they will be at the residence on Bellemont-Alamance Road. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.
    The family suggests memorial donations to the E. M. Holt Volunteer Fire Department.
    Pallbearers will be Larry Nichols, Sammy Moser, Doug Parker, Harvey Simmons, Clayton Ingle and Walt Wagoner.

    BURLINGTON - James Ervin Capps, 65, of 1609 Atway Loop died Feb. 5, 1993, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham.

    A native of Alamance County, he was a retired veteran of the Korean conflict, where he was hurt in battle and received a Purple Heart. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Korean Presidential Medal. He was a member of DAV, Fleetwood Reserves.
    Surviving are wife, Deanna George Capps of the home; daughter, Sherry Capps Lewis of Graham; stepdaughters, Sylvia Lawson of King, Penny Lee Dalrymple of Graham; brothers, Venard Coy Capps and Adren W. Capps, both of Burlington; six grandchildren.

    GRAHAM — Mr. Dermont Foylee Chester, 82, of 717 Sycamore Road, died at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
    A native of Davidson County, he was the husband of Mrs. Dorothy Rich Chester, who survives, and the son of Mr. Julius Leroy Chester and Mrs. Nora Tesh Chester, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the 777th Tank Battalion. He was a retired self-employed mechanic and was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Jerry Chester of Graham and Mr. Darrell Chester of Greensboro; two sisters, Miss Peggy Chester of Greensboro and Mrs. Shelby Brock of Lexington; two brothers, Mr. James L. Chester of Greensboro and Mr. Jimmy Chester of Michigan; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Geneva Hutchinson; three brothers, Mr. Charles T. Chester, Mr. Norman L. Chester and Mr. B.A. Chester.

He retired from Virginia Mills and American Jenbach, was a member of the Bellemont United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class and was a former Scout Master of Boys Scouts of America.
    Survivors include wife, Mrs. Muriel Bowman Fogleman of the home; son, Max C. Fogleman of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bryant and Mrs. Mary Lowe, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

    BURLINGTON - Mrs. Muriel Bowman Fogleman, 87, of 4577 South N.C. 49, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after one week of failing health and three days critically ill.

    Survivors are her son, Mr. Max C. Fogleman of Burlington; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady O. Fogleman; and brothers, Oscar Bowman and Irwin Bowman.

    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Muriel Bowman Fogleman, 87, of 4577 N.C. 49 South, died at 9:52 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of one week, three days critical.

    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late A. B. Glenn and the daughter of Robert L. McPherson and Etta Cheek McPherson, both deceased. She was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church and a former Girl Scout leader. She worked at Western Electric Company and Tower Hosiery Mills.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Susan G. Lee and husband, Barry, and Mrs. Kala Glenn-Pruitt and husband, Kenny, all of Burlington; three grandchildren, Dean Lee , Justin Lee and Cassady P. Clayton, all of Burlington; one great-grandchild, Madison of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. N. Doris Johnson of Naples, Fla., and Mrs. Naomi M. Capps of Burlington; and a special friend and caregiver, Mrs. Dorothy Pratt.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Mae W. McPherson; and six brothers, Coy McPherson, Homer McPherson, Bobbie McPherson, Willard McPherson, Raymond McPherson and Ben McPherson.
    The funeral will be conducted at Bellemont United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Holt Clarke and the Rev. R. E. L. Moser. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery, Snow Camp, N.C.

Mrs. Vickie Sue Edwards Ingle
    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Vickie Sue Edwards Ingle, 53, of 1654 Faucette Road, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2001, at her home after an illness of four years.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Lonnie J. Ingle, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Eddie Edwards and Mrs. Mary Lola Mills Edwards, both deceased. She was a secretary for Lonnie Ingle and Son Mobile Home Movers for 30 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
    Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Edward Ingle of Burlington; two daughters, Miss Tracie Ingle and Miss Stacy Ingle, both of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Rachel E. Justice of Graham; and two grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth E. Thompson and Miss Tilley Sue Edwards.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church in Graham by the Rev. David Jackson, pastor and the Rev. David Janey, youth minister. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery.

    GRAHAM — Mrs. Elsie Way Isley, 101, formerly of 501 East Parker St., died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Alamance Health Care Center in Burlington after 6½ years of failing health, 19 days critical.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Albert Marvin Isley, who died in 1966, and the daughter of Mr. Henry Shalmon Way and Mrs. Annie Jane Overman Way, both deceased. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Alice) Pickard Jr. of Hollywood, Fla., and Mrs. Walter (Bernice) Shambley of Burlington; a son, Mr. Richard M. Isley of Graham; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Della Way, Ms. Eula Way, and Ms. Joy Sykes; and five brothers, Mr. Talton Way, Mr. Dennis Way, Mr. Clarence Way, Mr. Fowler Way, and Mr. Howard Way.

    An Alamance County native, Mrs. Moser was the daughter of the late Edwin A. Isley and Mrs. Julia Clayton Isley. She was the widow of C. E. Moser, who died in September of 1939, and was a member of Bellemont Methodist Church.

    The funeral will be held at Bellemont Methodist Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Auburn W. Lore, pastor, Rev. Robert Wallace, pastor of Friendship Methodist Church, Rev. R. Z. Newton, pastor of Salem Chapel Methodist Church and a former pastor of Bellemont Methodist Church, will officiate.
    Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    BURLINGTON - Mr. James Duncan Moser Sr. of 1715 Bellemont-Alamance Road, died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center, after one year of declining health and two weeks critically ill.
    A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2000, in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. R. E. L. Moser, a brother.
    A native of Alamance County, he was a son of the late Claude Eugene Moser and the late Ella Isley Moser. He worked many years for Standard Hosiery Mill and retired from Burlington Industries. He was a member and catcher for the 1934 and 1935 Burlington High School baseball team, who won the Western North Carolina High School Baseball Championship. He played on the Industrial League and Standard Mill Team, batting a .519 average in 1938.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Mae Lockamy Moser; sister, Mrs. Nannie M. Curtis; and brothers, Mr. Troy Moser and Mr. Hartsell Moser.
    Survivors are his sons, Mr. James Duncan "Jimmy" Moser Jr. and Mr. Sammy K. Moser, both of Burlington; brother, the Rev. R. E. L. Moser of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Sadie M. Brooks and Mrs. Madeline M. Jones, both of Burlington; five grandchildren, Edward Russell Moser, Tammy Lyn Moser, J. Brad Moser, Jami M. Hinson and Julie M. Thomas; and 11 great-grandchildren.

    BURLINGTON - Mrs. Clarice Whitaker Pickett, 82, of 2055 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after ten days critical illness.
    The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 1997, at Bellemont United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Al Trotter, pastor of Bellemont United Methodist Church, the Rev. R. E. L. Moser, United Methodist minister, and the Rev. Ty Harrison, pastor of Galax United Methodist Church, will officiate.
    A native of Julian, she was a daughter of the late Giles Luther Whitaker and the late Eva Siler Whitaker. She was married to the late Howard Agnew Pickett. Mrs. Pickett was retired from North Carolina public schools, and was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years, and was church membership secretary for more than 30 years. She was a graduate of UNC at Greensboro, and was an avid doll collector and restorer for many years.
    The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and other times at the residence.
    The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

    Edward Glenn Randolph, 62, of Fayetteville, died Sunday in a hospital there following several years of declining health and one week of critical illness
    A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John H. Randolph and Emma Shepherd Randolph. He was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church and retired manager of Canada Dry Bottling Company.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Holt Randolph of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Edward W. O'Neal of Fayetteville; two sons, Stanley Randolph of Fayetteville and Terry Randolph of Washington, D. C. ; one sister, Mrs. O. G. Wilson of Graham; three brothers, H. G. Randolph of Durham, Kenneth Randolph of Raleigh and C. L. Randolph of Athens, Ga.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Final rite will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Belmont United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hoyt Cheek, pastor, and the Rev. R. E. L> Moser, pastor of Davis Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    The body will be brought to the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington Tuesday to remain until taken to the church for the service. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday night from 7 to 9 o'clock.
    In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Alzora Allen Russell, 97, of 2942 Amherst Ave., died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at her home. She was formerly of Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road.
    A native of Snow Camp, she was the wife of the late Mr. Lawrence S. Russell and the daughter of Mr. John Allen and Mrs. Caroline Stuart Allen, both deceased. She was a retired teacher from the Alamance County School System and was a former member of the Shamrock Garden Club. She was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years and organized and was the first president of the Church United Methodist Women.
    Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. A. B. (Johnnie Russell) Blair Jr. of Williamsburg, Va., Mrs. John M. (Alyece Russell) Fletcher of Elon College, Mrs. Clayton (Katie Russell) Ingle of Burlington and Mrs. Marvin E. (Agnes) Yount of the home; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Sidney Lee Russell, 70, of Route 6, who was a well - known farmer of the Coble Township community, died at his home at 7:40 o'clock last night following three years of failing health and one week of critical illness.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John M. and Isabelle Graves Russell. He was a member of Bellemont Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Logan Herndon Russell; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Dale of Burlington; two sons, S. L. Russell, Jr., and John Michael Russell, both of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Isley and Mrs. L. L. Cook, both of Burlington; Mrs. Ben Neese and Mrs. Lacy Holt, both of Graham.

    BURLINGTON — Mr. Ralph T. Sutton Sr., 66, of 3250 Maple Ave., died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 1999, at his home.
    A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Faye W. Sutton, who survives, and the son of Mr. Earl E. Sutton and Mrs. Gelia Terrell Sutton, both deceased. He was retired from the Greensboro Fire Department with the rank of captain after 38 years of service. He was formerly involved with the Boy Scouts of America and also worked part-time for Kinard Pharmacy in Greensboro. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Terri) Skiver of Liberty and Mrs. Jimmy (Kimberlyn) Bullis of Graham; a son, Mr. Ralph Thomas “Ty” Sutton Jr. of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Russell (Merle) Coble of Greensboro; a brother, Mr. Jack Sutton of Seagrove; and four grandchildren.
    The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Roberts, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

    BURLINGTON - Mrs. Audrey Williams Watkins, 80, formerly of 2122 Young St., died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1993, at Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville, Va., after 18 months illness and one month critical illness.
    Born in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late William Ernest Williams Sr. and Maude Hall Williams, and husband of the late Ret. Lt. Roy Z. Watkins. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and a member Bellemont United Methodist Church.
    Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 in Alamance Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Al Trotter, pastor of Bellemont United Methodist Church.
    Surviving are stepchildren, Mrs. Jean Maness of Graham, Mrs. Janelle Johnson, Mr. Billy Roy Watkins, both of Haw River; brother, Mr. Gordon Williams of Reidsville; seven step grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; five step great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased are brothers, W. Ernest Williams Jr., Irvin Williams, J. Milton "Dude" Williams.
    The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary, Burlington, 7-9 tonight, other times at the residence Ken and Janice Williams, 1809 S. Mebane St., Burlington.

    A native of Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Wade Cullins York and Alma Lee York, who survives. He was vice president of marketing for Southland Distribution & Sales, Augusta, Ga. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hazel F. York
    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hazel Fogleman York, 93, a resident of Home Place of Burlington, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health. She was formerly of West Davis Street.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ed York and the daughter of Mr. V. T. Fogleman and Mrs. Annie Stinson Fogleman, both deceased. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Hilda Whitehead Circle, and a former member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Gerringer of Burlington; a son, Mr. Melvin York of Burlington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Wayne Fogleman York.
    The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Scott Watford and the Rev. R. E. L. Moser. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery.
