- Notes on the
Crown Grant Map
- The 'Crown Grant Map' provided by the Province of New Brunswick
is a flawed document to say the least. First, it is based on
the idea of providing the first grant that can be traced to modern
deeds. Thus it ignores previous grantees. Second, it has errors
in determining who is the grantee in the above case. If you follow
it as an accurate record instead of a 'pointer' towards documents,
you will get into trouble...
-
- One example is the Oak Bay Grant, Lot 89, of 'John McIntosh',
which should read John McMillan. see

- As St. David falls at the corners of four panels, the one
on this site was pieced together. The original maps did not exactly
match up, so in places the joints are visible.
