1823 Tax Assessment List - listing by size of assessment
The Assessment of Property gives a measure of the 'success' or importance of individuals owning land in St. David Parish. It is interesting how few absentee landowners there were.
The original manuscript of the Assessment is in the Public Archives of New Brunswick, and several others exist for alternate years covering St. David Parish. Note that the greatest number of those in the 'top 10' are from the upper areas of the Parish, most especially the Moore families of Upper St. David Ridge and Moores Mills.
