To His Excellency, Sir William McBean George Colebrook; Lieutentant Governor of the Province of New Brunswick &c - &c - &c ----
    The Petition of James Murray most humbly sheweth: that your Petitioner is a British Subject, a native of Ayshire, Scotland; and emigrated to this Province in the year one thousand, eight hundred and thirty; since which time he has resided on a Lot if vacant Crown Land, situated on the East side of the Nerepis Road, adjoining Land owned by William H. Lyon, called the Halfway House.  Where your Petitioner has built a loghouse, and cut down, and improved said Land.  Your Petitioner has served in New Britainick Majesty's Navy, for the term of fourteen years, in the time of King George
the third, and at the time of taking the French West India Islands: for which services, Your Petitioner has not heretofore applied for assistance, or drawn and Land from the Crown - Your Petitioner is fifty five years of age, and has a wife.  And, whereas your Petitioner has learned that certain Person, or Persons are set about to obtain the said Lot of Land from the
Crown, and by so doing to displace, and totally disinherit your Petitioner - Your Petitioner, therefore most humbly begs, that a Grant may pass to your Petitioner for the aforesaid Land.  And, as in duty bound your Petitioner will ever Pray.

 We, the undersigned, Inhabitants of the Parish of Petersville, in the County of Queens:  do certify that James Murray, the within named Petitioner is a Resident, as is specified named Petition hereto annexed; and that he has lived on the Lot of Land, as mentioned in the Petition; and that he has built a house and cleared, and improved on the same. ---
