The St. George Granite Works was established by Alex Taylor and Sons of Blackburn, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in 1876 and operated until about 1900. It was then sold to John O'Brien and Andrew S. Baldwin who operated it for many years with S. L Tilley Moran as manager.
