Webster George Leavitt

Unexpectedly at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, NB on December 24, 2003, Mr. Webster George Leavitt Jr., husband of the late Margaret Vergie (Matthews) Leavitt, of Saint John, NB. Born in St. George, NB on April 15, 1924, he was a son of the late Webster G. Leavitt and Mabel (Cook) Leavitt.

A loving father, grandfather and brother, Webster is survived by five sons, James (Gail) of St. George, NB, Cleveland (Debbie) of Pennfield, NB, Vance of Saint John, NB, Laurie (Ellen) of Portage Vale, NB, and Maurice (Brenda) of Saint John, NB; three daughters, Rose (Dana) Justason of L'Etang,NB, Lorraine Cook of Sussex, NB and Lynn (Jim) Landry of Westfield, NB; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cora of Saint John, NB and Blanche of Sussex, NB; one sister-in-law, Pauline Leavitt of St. George, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special friend, Alma Denty of Saint John, NB. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Dennis and David; one grandson, Jamie; two brothers, Gilbert and Mansel; one sister, Helen Morrison.

Webster had worked for the city of Saint John with Public Works for 22 years prior to his retirement He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Rested at Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay, with visiting on Friday, December 26 from 7-9 pm and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service was held on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the St. George Rural Cemetery.
