ALLEN, SHERMAN HOWARD - Sherman Howard Allen of Kelowna, BC,
formerly of St. George, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home with
family at his side on Friday, August 30, 2002 at the age of 89. He is survived
by his loving wife of 57 years, Nelly; one son Ron (Marlene) of Kelowna; three
grandchildren: David, Daniel, Jennifer; one sister-in-law Frances Allen of St.
George, NB.; two nieces Roberta Allen and Janet Matheson of St. George, NB.
Predeceased by four brothers: Fred, James, Robert and Harold. Sherman served 5
years in World War II with the 8th Princess Louise New Brunswick Hussars, 5th
Armed Regiment. He was a tank commander in Italy where he was wounded in
battle. Sherman moved west in 1956 and worked for the City of Vancouver. After
retirement, he pursued his love for fishing, baseball and volunteered as
grounds keeper at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver. He spent a great deal of
time with his grandchildren at sporting events. He will be deeply missed by
all. A private family service will be held on Monday, September 2nd at 11:00
a.m. at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, Kelowna, BC. Cremation to
follow, with the remains to be taken back to New Brunswick and placed in the
