Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home in Blacks Harbour NB on January 16th, 2008, Mr. Merlin Edward Frost, husband of the late Mrs. Marjorie (Bent) Frost, formerly of Bonny River NB. Born in Bonny River on August 6th, 1919, he was a son of the late Gorham and Mary (Kinney) Frost. A loving grandfather and brother he is survived by five grandchildren; Jason (Stacey) Frost and Lisa (Terry) Leslie both of Bonny River, Paul Frost (Christine) of Saint John NB, Jodi (Andrew) Giverson of Kingston Peninsula NB and Crystal Frost of Alberta, 11 great grandchildren, one sister; Berla Campbell of St. George NB, two daughter in laws; Ann Garnett of Saint John and Marilyn Frost of Bonny River and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife he was predeceased by two sons; Merlin Jr. “Sonny” and Paul, two brothers; Hazen and Douglas, two sisters; Nellie Lee and Doris Reardon.

Merlin was a veteran of World War II, serving with North Nova Scotia Highlanders overseas where he was injured in the battle of Normandy. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a well known hunting guide for many years and enjoyed gardening. Prior to his retirement he was a school bus driver and worked for the Department of Transportation.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Second Falls Baptist Church on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Culberson officiating. The interment will take place at the church cemetery at the spring. In memory of Merlin, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 will hold a Tribute Service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
