ROLAND W. LEE
Word of the unexpected death of Roland Wynn Lee came as a shock to his family, relatives and friends.
His death occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital May 9, 1985 following a brief illness. A son of the late Fremont and Jane (Wynn) Lee, he was born Feb. 27.,1904 at Brancroft, ME. The family moved to Elmcroft, Charlotte County, when he was quite young, where he resided until moving to Second Falls. He spent his lifetime engaging in farming and lumbering. For a time he was employed with the Department of Highways bridge crew until retirement. At the time of his death he was still quite active as a registered guide.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Nellie Frost, his son Forrest of Canal and daughter Lois, Mrs. John Goss Sr. of Bonny River; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; four sisters (Martha), Mrs. Myer Krutt of Boston (Freda), Mrs. Chester Craig of Bayswater; (Frances) Mrs. John McHugh in California and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lee was a member of the Margaret McRae Memorial Pentecostal Church at Second Falls, where the service was held, with the minister, Rev. Sadie Wright officiating, assisted by Rev.Philip Anderson of the Pentecostal Church of St. Andrews; Rev. John Bunting of the United Baptist Church, Second Falls and Rev. Peter Sherwood of the United Baptist Church, St. George.
The hymn How Great Thou Art was sung by Rev. Anderson, with the congregation singing the hymns The Old Rugged Cross and In the Sweet Bye and Bye.
The pallbearers were Robert Frost, Clair Monahan, Henry Robbins, Eric Banks, James Oliver, Gilbert King and James Matheson. Interment was in the community cemetery at Second Falls.
Many beautiful floral tributes were received and donations were made to various memorial funds. Attending the funeral were relatives and friends from Halifax, N.S.; Fredericton, Gagetown, Hampton, Rollingdam, St. George and Saint John.
