Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, NB on February
12, 2013, Mrs. Edna Mae (Matthews) Buchanan wife of Neil Vail Buchanan of
Second Falls, NB. Born at Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island on November 18,
1939, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Margaret (Goodeill)
Matthews. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and
aunt, Edna is survived by her husband Neil, her children, Wanda (Tim) Hatt,
Bruce (Nancy) Buchanan, Wendell Buchanan, Twylla (Ron) Justason, Denise
(Brad) Newsham, Stacey Buchanan (Mitchell Dooks) and grandchildren Adam,
Abraham, Megan, Sheena, Russell, Neil Jr., Ryan, Jenna, Ronnie Jr., Cally
and eight great grandchildren, siblings, Harley Matthews, Eloise Matthews,
Glen Wayne Matthews and several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by
her parents, sisters, Elva Jane Matthews and Barbie Mitchell, nephew, Dana
Mitchell and great granddaughter Isabella Buchanan.
Edna loved her children and thoroughly enjoyed her times with her
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anyone that knew Edna knows her
enjoyment of playing horseshoes, washers and cannot forget her yard saleing.
She always enjoyed a good card game with a good challenge. She always
enjoyed getting a good bargain. She will be greatly missed by her family and
friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George NB with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The
service will be held from the St. George Baptist Church, St. George NB on
Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. The interment will take
place at the Second Falls Baptist Church in the spring. As per Edna's wishes
no flowers please. In Edna's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or
to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
