At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on September 21, 2009, Mrs.
Joyce Louise (Aker) Matheson, wife of the late James H. Matheson formerly of
Oak Bay NB. Born at Middleton, Kings Co. NS, on January 6, 1942, she was a
daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Ward) Aker. A loving mother,
grandmother, sister, step sister and friend, she is survived by one
daughter, Vicki (Mark) Stevens of Canal NB, grandchildren; Brittany
Lee-Stevens, Daniel Lee-Stevens, Jessica Stevens and Matthew Stevens all of
Canal NB, two sisters; Doreen (Ronnie) Cook of St. George NB and Pauline
Harris of L’Etang NB, one step brother, James (Gail) Leavitt of L’Etang NB
and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband James,
she was predeceased by her step father, Frank H. Breen.
Joyce was very hard working and enjoyed owning a local blueberry business.
She was an avid bingo player who loved to go to flea markets so she could
add to her “junk” collection. She loved her family and gave them all the
love and time she had to offer. She will be dearly missed by her family and
many friends.
Resting at the Seaview Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB from where the
service will be held on Wednesday at 5:30 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke
officiating followed by interment at the Second Falls Baptist Cemetery,
Second Falls NB. Visiting at the church on Tuesday from 7-9 pm. In Joyce’s
memory, donations to The Charlotte County Cancer Society or to the charity
of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
