Unexpectedly at McDougall Lake, NB on May 9, 2004, Mr. Roland Roy Frederick “Spud” Winters, loving husband husband of Barbara Ann (Cawley) Winters, of Pennfield, NB. Born in Liscomb Mills, Guysboro County, Nova Scotia on January 11, 1934. He was a son of the late Frederick and Odessa (Tippert) Winters. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Spud is survived, besides his wife, by two sons, Timmy, and Harvey (Darlene); one daughter, Charlene (Perry) Wright; four grandchildren, Tara, Stephen, Natasha, and Shelby, all of Pennfield, NB; one sister, Verlie (Ernest) Pettigrew of Nova Scotia; one brother, Leonard Winters, of Napanee, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Lynn Lenora, and one brother, Elmore “Red” Winters.

Spud retired from Lake Utopia Paper after 21 years of service as a Wood Room Operator. He he was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed 4-wheeling and camping. He was a former member of the McDougall Lake Campers’ Association.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB (755-3533) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at the St. George Baptist Church, Main Street, St. George, on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, followed by interment at St. George Rural Cemetery. In Spud’s memory, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Charlotte County Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
