Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on
September 13, 2009, Mrs. Wanda Lula (Smith) Parks, wife of Mr. Hugh B. Parks
of Breadalbane NB. Born at Port la Tour NS, she was a daughter of the late
Reginald and Nellie (Stoddard) Smith. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and
sister, in addition to her husband Hugh, she is survived by one son, Paul
(Kathleen) Parks of Yarmouth NS, one daughter, Kimberly (John) Oliver of
Second Falls NB, nine grandchildren; John, Jesse (Denise), Julia, Isaac,
Josiah, Amos, Noah, Hannah and Cherith, seven sisters; Blanche (Fred) Webb
of Boston MA, Lorraine (Herbert) Newell of Nova Scotia, Oleta (Warren)
Cunningham of Port la Tour NS, Kathleen Stockton of Georgia USA, Rachel
Roberts of Baccaro NS, Gladys Smith of Kennetcook NS and Nancy (Paul)
Donelle of Kentville NS, three brothers; Ferwood (Dorothy) Smith of Port la
Tour NS, Weldon (Shirley) Smith of Upper Port la Tour NS and Blanchard
(Debra) Smith of Calgary AB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In
addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Bruce, and four
brothers; Gerald, Lawrence, George and Roscoe.
Wanda was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her family. She
loved to garden, do crafts and was known for making beautiful quilts. She
was a devoted Christian who stood strong behind her faith. Her friends and
family will dearly miss her warm smile and loving heart.
Resting at the St. George Baptist Church, St. George NB from where the
service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Darren Millett
officiating, followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
Visiting at the church on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Wanda’s memory,
donations to the St. George Baptist Church, the IWK Children’s Hospital, or
to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
