Thomas Eli Mitchell

Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on July 19, 2009, Mr. Thomas Eli Mitchell, husband of the late Beulah E. (Cooke) Mitchell of Back Bay NB. Born at Back Bay on March 14, 1914, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ellen "Ella" (Leavitt) Mitchell. A loving father, grandfather, and brother, he is survived by a son, Tony (Kim) Cooke of L'Etang NB, two grandchildren; Alisha Newbury of Fort McMurray AB and Katelynn Cooke (Tony Harris) of Edmonton NB, two great grandchildren, Carter Newbury and Tanner Harris, sister in law, Frances Mitchell of Back Bay and brother in law, Medford Holland of St. Stephen NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife Beulah, he was predeceased by two brothers, Murchie and Samuel and by two sisters, Avis Holland and Dana Walsh.

Tom spent most of his working life on the water. He enjoyed fishing and in his latter years enjoyed helping Tony prepare his lobster heads for the lobster season.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating, followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home one Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Tom's memory donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
