After a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family at the Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen NB on February 22, 2009, Mr. Glendon Gerald Cooke,
husband of the late Mrs. Marguerite (Wilcox) Cooke of Utopia NB. Born at
Lake Utopia NB on August 21, 1930, he was a son of the late Norman and
Lillian (Chambers) Cooke. A loving father, grandfather and brother, Glendon
is survived by two sons; Glendon W. Cooke and Gerry Cooke both of Utopia NB,
three daughters; Donna Barrio of L’Etang NB, Lisa (Tim) Carr of Sydney NS
and Cheryl Tucker of Rothesay NB, 13 grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren, three sisters; Ivy Henry of St. Stephen NB, Helen Frost of
Saint John NB and Freda (Lawrence) Stewart of Pennfield NB and several
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife,
Marguerite, Glendon was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Prior to his retirement, Glendon worked for Irving Pulp and Paper at Utopia
NB for 20 years. He was an automotive enthusiast, and loved spending time
with his family. He was a member of the St. George Seventh Day Adventist
Church.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage
Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E.
Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 2 pm with Ken Corkum officiating. The
interment will take place at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from
2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Glendon’s memory, donations to Shriner’s Hospital for
Sick Children, Charlotte County Transportation Fund, or to a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family
