Thomas "Bruce" Stackhouse

1936-2009

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 31st, 2009, Mr. T. Bruce Stackhouse, husband of Mrs. P. Joan (Frye) Stackhouse of Back Bay NB. Born at Saint John on June 25th, 1936, he was a son of the late James Richard and Annie Milicent (Scott) Stackhouse. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by two sons; Rodney Bruce (Debbie) Stackhouse of Salisbury NB and Brian Keith (Debbie) Stackhouse of Hampton NB, five grandchildren; Kirsten, Leandra, Michelle, Logan and Rachael, one brother, Ronald (Audrey) Stackhouse of Grand Bay-Westfield NB, five sisters; Muriel Stackhouse of Ottawa ON, Laura Harting of Kingston Peninsula NB, Evelyn (Allison) Sheffar and Marjorie Calvin both of Saint John and Linda (John) Wilson of Nepean ON and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Edith Creaser and five brothers; Fred, George, Edward, Lloyd and Harold.

Prior to his retirement Bruce had worked for Canada Post as a postal clerk for 8 years. He also worked and had an extensive career with the YMCA in various locations including, Aquatic Director with the YMCA at Saint John, Physical Director with the YMCA at St. Thomas ON, The New Brunswick Protestant Orphan’s Home as Program Director and the Moncton Boys & Girls Club as the Assistant Director. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sportsman.

There will be no visiting or service. A graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating at a time to be announced in the spring. In Bruce’s memory, donations to the St. Mark’s Anglican Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
