Octive Earl Leavitt
Peacefully at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton NB on September 8, 2007, Mr. Octive Earl Leavitt, husband of the late Emma May (Crosby) Leavitt. Born in Back Bay NB on May 14, 1911, he was a son of the late John and Sara L. (Harris) Leavitt.

A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by four sons; Francis (Dolores) of Prince George BC, Alan (Brenda) of Geary NB, Ross (Wayne) Harrison of Willow Grove NB and Carl (Cindy) of Lincoln NB, three daughters; Edith (Robert) Hickey of Dalhousie NB, Rowena (Wayne) Gunsolus of St. George NB and Anna (Al) Miner of Back Bay, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one sister; Bessie Hanley of Back Bay, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Octive was predeceased by four brothers; Kinsbur, Otis, Basil and Melvin and two sisters; Ethel Wilcox and Martha Leavitt.

Octive worked for Connor’s Bros. for more then 30 years at the factory in Back Bay. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and loved gardening. He was a member of the Back Bay Church of Christ.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, from where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gordon Cooke Jr. officiating, with interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Octive’s memory donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank Reta’s Retreat and Pine Grove Nursing Home for their excellent care. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
